    Not Allowing Room For Overspending

Here’s the one wedding budget hack you need: If you account for budget overages, then you never actually blow your budget. “Going over your wedding is likely in 2022 more than ever due to inflation and an increase in goods due to supply chain issues,” warns Gall. “Couples should plan ahead by aligning on what they are willing to spend, including the max that they will spend for each vendor, and cross-reference that with their overall budget.”

Try to earmark 5% of your budget for unforeseen costs. Here are three areas where you might go over: flowers weather-related expenses and small accidents .

Problem is, those higher revelations arent always affordable. A wedding DJ can cost $1,400, while a live band costs an average of $2,400.

Luckily, you can score a Bluetooth speaker rental for as little as $40. Just make a playlist of your favorite songs, then let it play as you dance the night away.

    OUR $10,000 DREAM WEDDING BUDGET

My wedding was beautiful, everything I could have wanted, and it came in at just under $10,000. Im sure youre thinking how did she do that?, and of course, you are. We all know weddings cost a mini fortune. The Knots most recent survey revealed the average cost of a wedding in 2017 was $33,391.

Crazy money and definitely not what we were happy to spend.

Yes, this is one of the most special days of our lives, and we want it to be beautiful, fun, and filled with deliciousness but we also didnt want to spend the cost of a house down payment on this one day.

Lets review how we kept our wedding on a budget.

Decide If Youre Planning A Honeymoon

If you’re planning a honeymoon after your wedding, consider if you’ll include it in your wedding budget or have a separate savings account. Either way, expect to set aside around $5,000, which is what the average couple spends on their romantic getaway.

Some couples delay their honeymoon until they can save up again and instead go on a “nanomoon” immediately after their wedding. Others enjoy staycations to spend special time together as newlyweds. It’s up to you and your fiancé and what you can afford.

    Lodging & Transportation: $300

Youve got to stay somewhere. When youre setting up your room block, ask if the hotel offers a free stay for the couple if a minimum number of rooms is met, which could leave you $300 in your budget for a fab getaway car and shuttles for your guests. Staying in the same place where youre getting married? Use this to upgrade to a suite for the night.

    11 Beautiful $10 000 Wedding Dress

Everyone says your wedding is only one day, and thats true. But its still going to be a day youll remember forever. You dont want to think back on it with regrets.

I got married back in 2015 when I was 21, so I didn’t have an endless amount of money to spend on a wedding. I set a budget of $10,000 .

In order to keep the wedding on budget, I prioritized things that were most important to us:

Inviting a large number of guests: We decided we’d rather include all our friends and family and have a bigger wedding that wasn’t as fancy, rather than a bougie wedding for, like, 10 people.

Time-saving ideas: I didn’t want to spend my whole life planning the wedding, so I tried to do as little DIY as possible and opted for more “done for you” services.

Guest comfort: We also wanted the wedding to be as comfortable and convenient as possible for guests.

Low stress: It’s my life goal to avoid as many stressful situations as I can, so I wanted a simple wedding.

    Ceremony & Reception: $4600

The venue will be your biggest ticket item, no matter what youre spending. Seek out a reception venue that includes catering, a bar package, basic rentals , and service all in one, as you can save money with a package deal. Many venues also make cakes on-site, which will be added on to your food and beverage package. If youre planning to get a cake elsewhere, limit yourself to between $200 and $300 to help your budget go further, or look into options like cupcakes, pies, or an ice cream bar, which will be more affordable because theyre not as labor-intensive as a fondant-wrapped wedding cake.

For your ceremony venue, set aside between $100 and $500 as a donation and fee if youre getting married in a house of worship.

Rentals And Items Bought As Alternative

    • 40 chairs rented: $107 + $23 tip = $130
    • Spotify Upgrade: $10 for a month

We didn’t want to rent anything, as it seemed like the most wasteful way to spend money, so getting away with just chairs isn’t bad. Although we went with the cheapest place I could find which cause a few headaches, but whatever!

Not Keeping Track Of Your Spending

Put your accounting skills to the test by deciding on a budgeting system to track all the money coming in and out. The easiest way? The Knot Wedding Budget Planner, which automatically tells you how much you should be spending on everything from music to mother-in-law gifts, and allows you to track all your payments and their due dates. Otherwise, you can put all your info in an old-fashioned Excel spreadsheet. Just make sure you record every payment, because organization is key for keeping your wedding expenses breakdown organized.

Schedule frequent check-ins with your fiancé, as well as anyone else financially contributing to your big day, to ensure everyone is on the same page and your spending is on track. “I recommend that you sit down for a monthly reconciliation to document what was spent out of your budget,” says Andrew Westlin, Certified Financial Planner at Betterment. “That also gives you and your partner dedicated time to discuss and align on your plan.”

A Rustic Wedding For 130 Guests On A $7k Budget

Plan Your UK Wedding For Under £15k

When Sarah and Andrew Roehm got married in January 2017, they kept their budget low by sticking to a theme, embracing DIY and thinking outside the box.

Selecting a rustic, woodland theme up front made it easy to say no to any purchase that didnt vibe with the vision. A roulette table the groom suggested could have been fun, but it wasnt on theme and didnt make the cut.

The couple made their own playlists and recruited a friend to play iPhone DJ. Sarahs friends arranged the flowers and the decor . One of the groomsmen built the archway they got married under. A few other friends played live music during the ceremony.

The Roehms went the nontraditional route when it came to the venue and food. They got married at a country-style ranch costing a tenth of what some other venues were charging, and a food truck served burgers for $15 per person.

Because they saved money elsewhere, the bride was able to purchase the $1,100 wedding dress and jacket she fell in love with during an impromptu dress browsing trip.

Heres a rundown of some of the Roehms wedding costs:
