Practice the timing. We fear that officiants will be too long-winded and bore the guests. But it is also a problem with the wedding ceremony is too short. The wedding day is carefully timed and the various vendors depend on the ceremony ending at the time that is planned. Take too long and youll cut into the reception, go too short and the food wont be ready in time or the band wont be ready to play. Really work on staying within 5 minutes of the time allotted.

Check the wedding officiant laws by state, and also research at the county and city level to see what the different rules and regulations are for marriage officiants. In some states, practically anyone can perform a wedding ceremony in others, it can be next to impossible to get legal authorization to perform marriages unless you are the minister at a church with an active congregation. What Is An Officiant
First things first. Lets make sure were all on the same page: An officiant is the person who performs the wedding ceremony.
They say things like, do you take this man and by the authority vested in me. I am sure you know the usual wedding ceremony spiel.
An officiant of a civil ceremony can be a member of a religious organization, but does not have to be.
