Take A Break And Manage Last
The hiatus before the hoopla. The breather before the big day. The calm before the celebration. However you want to think about it, this is the sweet spot between all the planning and the actual wedding. There will be things to manage and decisions to be made. But mostly, this is a time of anticipation and excitement. Enjoy it.
Pro tip: Assign someone to be your crisis manager during this time. Theyll handle incoming requests, take care of tasks that they dont need you for, and can filter out anything that actually does deserve your attention. Wedding planners, maids of honor, and best men are all great for this role as long as you trust their judgment and feel they are reliable.
I Want You To Work More On Your Business Than In Your Business Aka Consider Yourself A Business Owner Above All Other Roles That You Might Have In Your Business
Owning a business is like having a classic car: it needs love, care, and attention. It needs you to tune it, fix what’s broken, and invest in its care.
If you’re serious about owning a wedding planning business, consider yourself an entrepreneur first and a business owner second.
My advice? Seek out education to help you build and grow your wedding planning business from the ground up the right way. Find mentors and business owners who are where you want to do be and hire them to help you.
In addition, you should invest in courses, conferences, and other educational avenues to learn all you can and speed up your results.
Always learning, always moving forward. That’s my motto.
The Day Of The Wedding
It’s time to celebrateyou finally made it! After so many long months of planning, your wedding day is finally here. Relax and enjoy every minute of your special day. “Once you get to the day of your wedding, have fun and take it all in,” Tangerini says. “You have spent months planning and preparing, so let your vendor team take care of everything for you that day. They are professionals and know what they are doing!”

Step #1: Stock Your Own Bar
This is a good way to save money on your wedding! Check with your venue to see if you can bring in your own alcohol. Using their options will almost always be more expensive.
There are tons of ways to set up your own bar and stock your own alcohol. You have tons of choices and ultimately youll have to choose what you think works best for you and your crowd. Decide on the look that you want and be practical about the amount of work its going to take to build it or create it.
You can go really simple by just having some foldable tables set up with tablecloths and big steel buckets full of ice and booze . Or you can get really creative and build a bar out of recycled pallets, hay bales, wine barrels the possibilities are endless!
Just dont underestimate the amount of work and time that can go into these sort of DIY projects. Be practical about your expectations before beginning to keep it as simple as possible.

Uber is here to make transportation for your wedding guestsfrom ceremony to reception to the after-partya cinch. UberEVENTS lets you manage how, when, and where guests ride through a promo code. Shop For Wedding Party Attire
Once you have an idea of what you and your S.O. will wear on the big day, it’s time to think about your wedding party too.
The same is true of groomsmen suits or tuxedos too. Think of wedding party outfits as puzzle piecesyou’ll need the big pieces first, like the location, wedding dress and wedding suit, in order to find outfits for your crew that fit in perfectly. Then, order them as early as possible to leave time for fittings and alterations. “We highly recommend that you order bridesmaid dresses at least three months in advance,” Lee says. “Not every dress is going to fit like a glove, so you’ll want ample time for exchanges or alterations.”
When Should You Start Planning A Wedding
Ive been writing about weddings long enough to know that planning a wedding takes some time and a lot of people arent sure when to start planning.
So how soon should you start planning your wedding? Twelve months before the wedding day is when you should start planning your wedding. However, if you plan to have a short engagement, arrangements can be made much quicker. The average engagement is about 13-months long, which gives just the right amount of time to plan the wedding.
The first thing you and your fiance need to do is decide if you want a long engagement or a short engagement. There are pros and cons to both and completely depends on the couple. The length of your engagement determines how much time youll have to plan.

When Would You Like To Get Married
- Would you like to get married this year, next year, or the year after?
- Do you have a preference for what season you get married in, Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter?
- Are you set on a Saturday wedding or would you consider another day of the week?
The time of the year you get married is important for two related reasons – weather and budget. The summer months of May to September are peak time for weddings, so having your wedding in the Winter months can offer significant savings and great value. While it’s helpful to be flexible, having a few ideal dates in mind is essential for when you start approaching venues and suppliers.
Set Your Wedding Date:
The reason we recommend waiting to set your wedding date until after choosing your wedding venue is that it leaves more options open. If you see a space you love, you will likely find it easier to consider all of their open dates in a month or season rather than having your heart set on one particular date. While setting your date, keep travel, holidays , and weather patterns in mind. Once you have set a date for the big day, you can start announcing it, particularly to your wedding party and additional wedding vendors.

If You Want To Book High
When you start your business, you’ll be tempted to serve everyone and anyone. That’s one of the biggest mistakes new entrepreneurs make: they reason they’ll cast a wide net, which will increase their chances of customers. After all, the wider the net, the more you can catch, right?
What ends up happening is you become too watered down, too unspecific, too generic. However, by appealing to everyone, you appeal to no one, because no one can really connect with your company.
They don’t look at what you offer, your message, and say, this is for me.
Set Your Wedding Budget
The single most important wedding checklist task to complete first is setting your budget, because this number will influence every subsequent planning decision. If you and your S.O. will be paying for your nuptials on your own, think about a number that’s feasible for you. Or, if you’d like to ask your parents to contribute, have that conversation to nail down what they’re able to pay.
As you begin to set your budget, this will require you to think about the potential size of your wedding too. The guest list count will influence the overall cost, as well as the venue you book. Now’s the time to determine whether you want something small and intimate or large and lavish, because this will have a direct impact on the cost of your wedding. “Brainstorming your guest list and talking about an overall budget are the first tasks you should do,” advises Ashley Tangerini, wedding planner for Mavinhouse Events. “These two go hand in hand and will help shape the venues and vendors you procure. It’s important to know the financial limits you may be working with, as well as who are your key contributors.”

Stage I: Budgeting And Organizing
As soon as you tell everyone in your family that youre getting married, theyre going to start asking questions. Whens the date? What are you going to wear? Whats your hashtag? Beach wedding or rustic barn feel?
These are the exciting questions, and you should feel free to dream about them with your friends and significant other. But to really answer them will take some time and some research. Stay patient. On average, couples spend about 13 months between the date of their engagement and their wedding day. Use that time to be intentional about all the steps to plan a wedding.
The Day Before The Wedding
- Drop off place cards, table cards, menus, favours, table plan to reception coordinator
- Provide all wedding professionals with an emergency phone number to call on the day of the wedding.
- Sort out payment for any final balances to be paid at the end of the reception.
- Ensure the cake is on track to be delivered to reception venue – have someone else look after this one!
- Rehearse ceremony with full wedding party ceremony readers your officiant at the ceremony site to rehearse and iron out details.

Step #: Make A Guest List
Your guest list, the number of guests that you invite, will influence the cost of your wedding more than anything. Its really important to get this right, and from the beginning. You cant un-invite people from your wedding.
So think about this long and hard, and early on and BEFORE you start talking to people about your wedding! Because people may end up inviting themselves in that case
Start brainstorming a guest list with this group of people . You all have to come to an agreement on a guest list or you wont be able to finalize the budget.
A LOT goes into making a guest list. The first tip I can give is to make ONE GUEST LIST meaning, no B-List. If you make a B-List, and later people find out that they were on the B-List, this isnt going to be pretty. You also dont want to be managing two RSVP lists for an A and a B list. Just make it easy on yourself and go with one list.
A good tip I heard from a wedding planner when trying to decide who to invite to your wedding is to ask yourself: Would I be disappointed if I werent invited to their wedding? If the answer is no you can remove them from your guest list.
Another important tip is to budget as if ALL of your guests are going to RSVP yes. Assume that 100 percent of your guests are coming and plan for those numbers in your budget. This will give you some leeway and its always better to be conservative to avoid going over budget.
Decide On Your Weddings Style
Yep, you heard me- wedding style. If youre new here, youll soon discover out that were HUGE on knowing what style of wedding you want. Vintage, modern, classic, eclectic, handmade, rustic there are SO many styles out there! The beauty of wedding styles is that they also coincide with decor and details, and so knowing from the beginning will help you later on. No need to design your whole wedding right now though- just know the general look and feel of how you want your wedding to be. Once you know that, itll be easier to move on to #5
A wedding style is something that every wedding has, something that defines and describes a weddings look and feel. Establishing your wedding style will help you tremendously when having to make decisions!

Buy A Secondhand Dress
This should be at the top of your list to check out. A secondhand, used wedding dress has really only been used for about 5-8 hours tops. Its crazy that we wear these dresses once and thats it.
For a more environmentally-friendly, and budget-friendly, option, check out second hand wedding dresses being sold by brides on sites such as Nearly Newlywed. Here you can find designer wedding dresses for sometimes as much as 80 percent off their original price!
Step #1: Dont Use A Dj For The Music
Ive about how a DJ is indeed VALUABLE and worth the money BUT not if youre trying to keep things simple!
If you dont plan on having a wedding that requires a lot of elements with coordinated music , then you dont really need a DJ.
You can simply create a playlist and plug in your device to some rented speakers, and youre good to go! Check out my article on wedding DJs for more details on this particular issue.

Take A Step Back And Breathe
Thats right, our second suggestion for how to wedding plan in 2022 is not to plan at all. At least for a little while.
Enjoy your engagement! Spend some time thats just you two revelling in your happiness and making up exciting plans for your future together. Maybe youve been inspired by Bridgerton and are desperate to move from the city to a pile in the country? Maybe youve got itchy feet and a few months travelling in 2022 is what your heart is craving? Maybe its time for that career move youve been dreaming about?
At Hitched, we love weddings. But 2021 has been a time for reflection for many people, and if you want to delay your wedding to 2024 or beyond and focus on something else first, we support that all the way. Your wedding should be something that feels right in your life plan. There is nothing wrong with either a short or a long engagement.
Plan a really lovely date night with your partner and communicate honestly about exactly what you want to come out of 2022. If thats planning a wedding, amazing! If thats putting the wedding on hold and building something that excites the two of you a family, a business, a home renovation thats great too! Make sure youre setting aside time for date nights that have nothing to do with your wedding take time in each others company as a sanctuary from stress.
