What To Do With Wedding Bouquet

Try These Creative Ways To Display Your Flowers

Making a Bridal Bouquet | How to Create a Wedding Bouquet with MD Flora

After youve dried or preserved your flowers, the real fun is deciding how to use them. Dried flowers can be beautiful on their own, but are also great for creating art for your home. The options are only limited by your imagination, but here are 13 ideas to get you started.

  • Frame your flowers to display your pressing as wall art.
  • Press coasters with flowers in fresh clay and cut with a cookie cutter before baking.
  • Pour candles and add your dried petals to the wax and scents to match your wedding bouquet.
  • Craft sun catchers with dried flowers pressed between glass panes.
  • Display a vase of your beautiful dried or preserved bouquet.
  • Make a wreath of your flowers to adorn your door.
  • Build a shadow box with your dried blooms and other wedding keepsakes, like your vows.
  • Weave a flower crown to hang on your wall and wear on your anniversary.
  • Create monogram art of epoxy resin, molding your flowers into initials.
  • Shape a heart with epoxy resin or as a wreath to display on your mantle.
  • Design jewelry with pressed flowers in glass or with an epoxy resin mold.
  • Cast a ring stand by pouring epoxy resin into a cone for your nightstand to keep your wedding rings safe.

Get Rid Of The Leaves

The first step in making any bouquet or flower arrangement is to remove all of the leaves from the stem.

Many of our professional florists at FloraQueen have a special machine which helps them with this, but you may need to do it by hand. Gently remove each leaf delicately, you don’t want to damage the stem.

Do this to all of your flowers before moving onto the next step, it will save time later and mean that you can get rid of all the mess before you get started!

Different Options For Preserving A Wedding Bouquet

Figuring out how to preserve your wedding bouquet does not have to be too difficult. Generally, there are three ways that it can be done.

  • Hang the bouquet to dry. Hang your bouquet in a safe area, upside down for several weeks or months and they will dry nicely. You can then store them in a bouquet preservation box.

  • Use Silica gel. Dont be deceived silica gel is actually more like a sand that is found at large craft stores. You put the flowers in a container that is large enough to bury the flowers. After a few weeks, remove the flowers and dust off the powdery residue. This is perfect for sturdier flowers like peonies, roses, and zinnias. Plan on the flower getting a few shades darker. This process takes about two months.
  • Get them freeze-dried. This is more expensive, but does keep the flowers looking very close to what they looked like on your big day. Professionals spray the flowers with starch, which keeps the colors, and then the bouquet is placed in a freeze-dryer, which takes out the moisture. This process also generally takes two to three months.

Brides usually develop sentimental value for their bouquet.

Submerge Them In Silica Gel

Silica gel isn’t an actual gel but a porous sand that works to absorb water and dry flowers in one to seven days. This method keeps your flowers looking the closest to how they did on the actual wedding date. While freezing your bouquet in time isn’t an option, silica gel is the next best thing.

You can pick up silica gel at any craft store for less than $10. Form a base of silica gel in an airtight container and nestle your blooms in the sand. Then, gently pour the silica gel around the petals, making sure the shape of the flower isn’t compromised. Keep filling until the container is full to the top, and seal it with the lid. Be sure the container is airtight, or your flowers could succumb to mold from any moisture.

Silica gel preserves the color of the flower nicely, too. When the week is up, remove the flowers carefully and spray them with either an artist fixative spray or hairspray.

You can also use clear epoxy resin to preserve your flowers in decorative shapes. To make a resin paperweight, get a mold from your local craft store in whatever shape you want, like a sphere or a cube. Fill it halfway with the epoxy resin and delicately arrange the flowers in the fluid. Fill it to the top, and let it dry. After you take the mold off, you’ll have a gorgeous decoration that will keep your wedding bouquet in bloom forever.

What Do You Need

What to do with the bouquet after the wedding? We dried ...

This bouquet may look intimidating, but it is actually quite simple and easy to make! You will probably already have almost all of the equipment needed, but you may need to get hold of some white ribbon or floral tape. You can find floral tape in most gardening stores or online, and it’s really cheap and easy to get hold of! The equipment that you will need includes:

  • Shears
  • String
  • Floral tape
  • White ribbon

Traditionally, most flowers in a bridal bouquet stick to the colors of white, with some splashes of pink or other pastel colors. As a result, you can see that in our example we have mostly stuck to this pattern, with white and pink being the two main colors in our bouquet. The flowers that we recommend using and have used in our example here are:

  • Avalanche rose
  • Eucalyptus
  • White lisianthus

However, as always, you should choose colors and flowers to match what you want! If you have a colored theme to your wedding, a bouquet is a great item to match to the theme to ensure that it is coherent throughout your big day!

Should I Keep Dead Flowers

The feng shui challenge with a dried flower is to keep its energy fresh and keep it special. This is when dried flowers can become bad feng shui and start creating clutter. Keep your dried flowers as long as you actually see them and love them, and when the energy is not there anymore, feel free to let them go.

What To Do With Your Wedding Bouquet After Is Dried

What to do with your wedding bouquet: how to dry ...

Once the bouquet is fully dry display in your favorite glass box!

Now that your wedding bouquet is all dry use it to decorate your home with it. I use the card glass box from my wedding to display the flowers. This glass box its beautiful and I was able to reuse two things from my wedding! It did cracked a little when we moved, but since is still together Im still using it .

I also kept the cake topper and some other keepsakes from my wedding in the box. I think this is a great idea on how to make sure that your wedding bouquet is not only preserved but it can be used to decorate your home. Also, its free!!

I display it on top of my Ikea malm dresser in the master bedroom. But it would look beautiful displayed in a shelf or even a coffee table.

Now, the envelope glass box that I used above is sold out. I have found a similar one and linked for you below.

So what do you think of this idea? Did you preserve your wedding bouquet?!

Repurposing Ceremony Arrangements For The Reception

Large ceremony arrangements are often created in a plastic designer dish and then placed on top of a large urn or a pillar to provide a visual frame around the couple. Couples quickly learn that these arrangements are expensive as they require lots of flowers and greenery and need to be large enough to be seen from the back of the ceremony rows.

Some ceremony arrangements include flowers that are only the three front-facing sides of the arrangements . If the bulk of flowers are on three sides, the ceremony arrangement’s placement at the reception must be considered.

Clients appreciate hearing that when the ceremony arrangement is created in a designer dish, it can be easily moved and displayed in a number of places, such as:

  • at the reception beside the head table

  • on a welcome table

  • on a buffet table

  • next to the stage with a band or DJ

If the arrangement is reused for an elevated floral arrangement on top of a tall vase on a reception table, it can also be a considerable cost saving.

However, the couple needs to understand that when the ceremony arrangement is reused as an elevated centerpiece arrangement, it would need to be created so that the flowers are evenly arranged around all sides. Therefore, pricing will be reflected in the additional amount of flowers required.
