What To Wear To A Wedding Reception Female

There May Be Exceptions

What to Wear to a Wedding Reception as a Guest | by Erin Elizabeth

There will obviously be exceptions to many of these rules. If the bride and groom request a certain attire or mention a specific theme, some of these tips may fly out the window, but for the majority of weddings you may attend, these rules are tried and true to follow.

For me, this means having that one dress hanging in my closet that I know is always a safe and acceptable option for nearly any and every wedding I attend. When in doubt, if you find yourself stressing and texting your friends about whether or not your outfit is appropriate, chances are it may not be and you’re better off picking something that fits within these safe guidelines.

What Is Garden Party Attire For Men

For men, garden party attire for a wedding consists of a semi-formal suit of almost any color , dress shirt, and tie.

This is a good occasion to be a bit more adventurous when it comes to suit or shirt colors and pattern of your tie. A light-colored suit with a white dress shirt and solid-colored would be a great choice.

You can also dip into pastel-colored suits or shirts or floral ties.

The big take-away is to have fun with colors and prints, but do NOT overdo it.

For example, you do not want to pick a light blue suit with a pink dress shirt AND a floral tie.

You can only choose one, so choose wisely.

The Best Excuse For Getting Dressed Up Is Always A Wedding If You Cant Get Dressed Up For A Wedding When Can You

This was the second wedding weve been to this year and although we went as evening guests only this time, its no less an opportunity to put your glad rags on and dress up. In fact, I sometimes think its easier to dress for an evening-only wedding reception no dilemmas over wearing a hat and no wondering whether your feet will last all day in those heels .

I didnt want to go and buy something new as I have so many lovely dresses in my wardrobe that dont get worn enough, so I shopped my closet for the perfect dress for an evening out. And I found the perfect option: worn just once before , my from-the-high-street mixed pattern floral and leopard print dress which is undoubtedly the Asos version of a Rixo London dress.

Very similar in style, but definitely not in price!

SHOP THE LOOK:

I do love Rixo London, but their prices are just a little too eye-watering for me. These sorts of dresses do make a huge statement, and apart from your shoes, bag and jewellery there arent many different ways to style them differently. So as much as Ive always loved their dresses especially their signature style of mixed pattern floral and leopard print Ive not ventured as far as buying one.

Lastly, with regards to the post title, What to Wear to a Wedding Reception as an Evening Guest, I have a few tips. Its certainly easier to dress for the evening do only, but as someone who believes in occasion-appropriate dressing , I can suggest:

In our latest anonymous etiquette column, Vogue.coms editors consider the unspoken rules and inadvertent faux pas of which every wedding guest should be aware.

Paper mattersIts simple: RSVP by the date indicated on the invitation. If a date isnt provided, just reply with your answer as promptly as possible. And what if there isnt a response card? About that plus-oneRegarding plus-ones, the entire staff agreed: Under no circumstances can you ever ask for one. Youre essentially asking the couple to pay for an extra person, says one writer. But the importance of plus-ones is at times underrated. Im eternally the single girl, and just because I dont have a boyfriend doesnt mean I dont want to go with someone to a party, says one writer. A beauty editor agrees: For my upcoming wedding, I only have one ruleeveryone gets a plus-one. And if a couple cant afford to invite so many guests, a good rule of thumb is to offer the option of a plus-one to at least everyone in the wedding party, which is usually made up of close friends and family.
