Art Deco Chic Meets Garden Wedding At The New York Botanical Gardens

Botanical Rooftop Wedding | New York Wedding | 620 Loft & Garden

Their first look, under the awning of the Essex House instead of in Central Park, was pure joy. Mariya cried so hard that her whole face melted, which altered Zachs tears of joy to full on guffawing. Not to worry, a full hair/makeup crew was at the ready for the entire day.

The Essex House has the most amazing art deco style inside their lobby, and their elevator doors are famous. It was the perfect backdrop for Mariya and Zachs portraits. I promised them that although we were winging the locations because of the weather, they were going to have epic portraits, and I think they are some of my all-time favorites. Not only are the locations beautiful, but Mariya and Zach are naturals in front of the camera. This, I observed, is because they barely even notice the camera when they are in each others presence.

Instead of portraits around the New York Botanical Gardens, we headed for the library to keep our bridesmaids and groomsmen dry. The interior is a very modern space that was perfect for the very large wedding party. We even made it out onto the steps when the rain let up for us!

For the last few moments of dry weather, we headed for the golf cart to take some garden portraits. On our way up the hill, the cart slowed to a standstill. We hopped off, one by one to let up some of the weight. When that failed, we pushed the cart until a rescue team picked us up. I cant remember the last time I laughed so hard at a wedding. What else can you do?

Their New York Botanical Garden Reception Wedding Photos

Leslie Bennett: Gardens of Sanctuary

Their reception was indoors. The cocktail hour was in a tented area off the main building and reception in the ballroom.

Their love of dogs encouraged a bold move for escort cards: each card had a different dog on it!

Red linen napkins and tea favors were at each place setting. As guests began their meal they were treated to a wonderful, choreographed first dance Kenny and Elaine practiced for weeks!

Thenit was time to get down! And dance, dance, dance they did. My time ended after Elaine changed into a red lace gown for her cake cutting and to honor her Asian heritage. The small white cake was covered with fondant and pink and red gumpaste flowers and was a sweet ending to a perfect wedding.

Congratulations Elaine and Kenny! May life be as beautiful as your wedding and may all of us one day have the imaginary dog family we always dreamed of.

While many wedding venues offer the refined luxury that has come to define New York style, few offer an escape from it all. By this we mean a setting that feels far off, magical, and is surrounded by blooming flowers and sprawling greenery. This is what makes Stone Mill at New York Botanical Garden so special. Tucked away in the lush, natural grounds that were founded in 1891, Stone Mill blends historic charm with modern comforts. With a capacity of 60 to 120 guests, it provides outdoor and indoor spaces to accommodate a wedding from start to finish. Marked by exposed wooden beams, original brick walls, and warm lighting, the newly renovated building radiates intimate romance.

Every wedding we have done at Stone Mill has been an unforgettable experience and left us completely inspired. The venues versatility caters to many décor styles ranging from classic elegance to enchanted garden. Its also remarkable how the venue takes on a different and tranquil atmosphere with the changing of the season.

Great Hotel For A New York Botanical Garden Wedding

New York Botanical Garden Wedding Photos

We used this hotel for our out-of-town guests attending a family wedding at the New York Botanical Garden. Susan Molina and her staff were fantastic to work with. Susan managed our room block, as well as , 2 receptions for our guests at the hotel. We had a Welcome Dinner for 40 guests and an After-party for 50 guests in the Lobby Area. Mix Host, Nateisha went above and beyond to help both events come off seamlessly. She managed the food serving and cleanup flawlessly. Antonette was a terrific help at the Welcome Dinner as well. Melissa, our bartender for the Welcome Party, worked for 2 solid hours fulfilling every drink request quickly and with a smile! All three ladies were very easy to work with. The Front Desk staff of Joia, Marsha, and Hajar were efficient and patient checking in our guests on a soggy Friday evening. This hotel has an updated modern decor. Rooms are clean and quiet.More

New York Botanical Garden Wedding Photos In The Perennial Garden

Their photos in the perennial garden are some of my favorites because I LOVE all the colors of the various flowers. It really matched the colors at their reception too. Late spring to fall is when you can expect gorgeous flowers to be in bloom here. And I love that its clearly a very tended-to garden but it has an organic whimsy about it.

New York Botanical Garden Wedding Photos After Their Ceremony Around The Property

As soon as they walked away I followed them to a getaway golf cart waiting to take us to the Mertz library on property of this Bronx botanical garden for some very European looking scenery and images. It was also nice for them to spend time alone after the ceremony.

It was nice quiet time they enjoyed at dusk, as their guests enjoyed cocktail hour back at the Terrace Room at NYBG. We prearranged this time and it was all carefully orchestrated with the help of their timeline I assisted in creating.
