What Impacts A Wedding Venues Prices
There are many factors that can drive wedding venue prices up or down, including:
- Location: Wedding venues located in major cities tend to cost more than those in more rural areas. In fact, the most expensive places to get married in the country are big cities, like New York City, San Francisco, and Boston.
- Wedding date: Its true, the wedding date you choose can have an impact on your wedding venue cost. If you want to get married on a Saturday night during peak season, youll likely pay more than a weekday wedding during an off-peak time of year. Many venues offer discounts for weddings during low season or on a weekday.
- Size:The more guests you invite, the more money youll spend. Larger venues that accommodate more people will cost more than smaller venues with lower capacities. If your venue includes catering, youll pay per person, so a large number of a guests means a higher wedding venue cost.
- Whats included: For some venues, youll pay a site fee and then have to hire an outside caterer, rental company, and all other vendors. Other venues are all-inclusive and have an in-house vendor and other vendors. While theres no rule that all-inclusive venues always cost less, you may be able to find some savings on your wedding reception prices if your venue has in-house vendors.
Venue And Catering Costs
Venue and catering costs account for the largest portion of most wedding budgets. If you’re set on a stately home or a castle, it’s not unusual for costs to start from £70 to £150 a head. Depending on the size of your guest list, the venue and catering can easily run into the thousands or tens of thousands of pounds pretty quickly. At the other end of the spectrum, an intimate, catered, garden-party wedding can cost as little as £35 a head.
If you like the idea of a destination wedding, you may find that getting married abroad can actually save you money!
Save Your Honeymoon For Later
As we all know, vacations are expensive, and spending can easily get out of hand when on your honeymoon. Now, were not saying you should skip the post-wedding holiday 78% of couples surveyed in Canada and abroad had honeymoons but you may want to postpone yours for a while, especially if you want to do something pricey, like yachting in the Maldives or staying in a private villa in Bora Bora. To celebrate, think about doing a minimoon or a staycation and save the main event for later.

Weddings have become more than just a chance for a couple to express their commitment to each other — they’ve become big business.
Couples budget, on average, around $23,000 for their wedding but end up spending around $30,000, with more than half of all couples increasing their projected spending during the planning process according to Wedding Wire’s 2020 Newlywed Report.
With couples spending enough money to buy a car or put a down payment on a home on a one-day event, let’s take a look at where this money goes, where it comes from, and who covers the costs.
Choose A Less Popular Wedding Season
Having trouble setting your wedding date? While many factors come into play when making a decision – like major life events, your work schedule and your budget – you should also look at when booking venues and vendors is most popular. For Canada, thats September . Suppliers tend to be busier and hike up their prices during this season, so you may want to book during the off season. Winter weddings and spring weddings can be just as lovely, so you should have no trouble putting together a dreamy celebration. Pro tip: weekday weddings can also help you spend less than the average wedding cost in Canada.

Dont Let The Numbers Fool You
The $19,000 average is steep and thats lower than in recent years, due to smaller-than-normal celebrations during the COVID-19 pandemic. But remember that averages dont tell the whole story. Experts point out that they can easily be skewed.
One $1 million wedding can bring up the average of thousands of $10,000 weddings, says Jessica Bishop, wedding expert and founder of the Budget Savvy Bride.
So treat this data as a benchmark, not an expectation. And you don’t have to spring for all the items on the list. For example, you might decide to skip favors and hook your smartphone up to a speaker system instead of hiring a band or DJ.
Be Smart About Tracking Wedding
Take advantage of budgeting and money management tricks along the way. For instance, put all your wedding money in one separate account, so you can easily track additions and withdrawals without getting it confused with the rest of your day-to-day funds. Pay for as many of your expenses as possible on a credit card to receive benefits like mileage, rewards or cash back. Finally, make sure everyone making wedding-related purchases on your behalf are all on the same card system, allowing you to benefit from the rewards and also from the easy tracking of your purchases.

In fact, weddings cost a whopping $33,700 more in New Jersey — where couples have the honor of hosting the nation’s most expensive weddings at an average price of $53,400 — than in Utah, the cheapest place in the U.S. to get married .
The extra $33,700 that Garden State residents spend would be enough to cover the full cost of an average wedding in 36 states!
Surprisingly, though, there are just three states in the country where the average cost of a wedding comes in at under $20,000 — Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming.
The table below shows the average price throughout the country:

Check For Hourly Rates
Do you really need a photographer on hand for eight or 10 hours? The same goes for a florist or videographer, as well. Instead, ask wedding service professionals for hourly rates, instead of day rates or flat fees, and don’t stop asking until you find a good one who’ll work with your hourly based budget. This tactic works especially well with off-season weddings, or weddings that aren’t on Saturday, when demand for professional wedding services is much higher.

Weddings probably aren’t what first comes to mind when you think of Primark, but it’s just launched a bridal range. And while sadly there are no wedding or bridesmaids’ dresses, if you’re in the market for a floral hair crown or some bargain ‘bride-to-be’ flip-flops… you’re in luck.

The range was launched in mid-February, and Primark says you should find it in stores UK-wide for the next couple of months, while stocks last.
We checked out the selection at the Primark nearest MSE Towers, at Tottenham Court Road . Prices seemed competitive, though we can’t attest to quality. Here are some of our finds:

Set Up A Free Website For Your Wedding
You can create a free personalised website for your wedding, using GettingMarried.co.uk, a wedding website provider. This will help you update guests about your big day, let you keep track of RSVPs, set up a gift list and guest book, and share photos after your wedding.
There are free templates to customise your website’s design, and tools to help you share your timetable, seating plan, travel tips and even add an FAQ section. These make Getting Married popular with forumites, and former MSE Sally used it to set up a website for her wedding.
We saved money on invites by creating a website with all the details of our wedding it meant we could keep the paper invites short and sweet.– Former MSE Sally
It’s worth noting, however, that Getting Married is owned by a wedding gift list company . So although you can create a website for free, it does encourage you to set up a Prezola gift list. This is completely optional, and you can add a link to another site instead, if you already have a gift list elsewhere.
You’ll usually need to pay for a premium subscription if you want to set up a honeymoon fund or create an option for cash gifts although this is currently free if you sign up for Prezola.

Forumites suggest making your own confetti using small heart or flower punches and colourful paper, which should all be found in your local craft shop.
You can also dry your own rose petals in the oven if you have friends or family with rose bushes you’re onto a winner, but some forumites have managed to haggle cheap roses from flower markets at the end of the day.
Make pretty cones to hold the confetti using doilies, which can be found in pound shops, craft shops and on eBay*.

How Much Does A Wedding Cost For 150 Guests
For many, getting married is one of life’s major milestones and one they want to celebrate.
Whether you believe no expense should be spared on your big day or think weddings are just a complete rip-off, it is no secret that things can get very expensive very quickly.
There is a popular theory that as soon as the word “wedding” is mentioned to a venue, photographer or anything you would book for this event, there is an instant mark-up.
It’s been dubbed the “wedding tax”, and it means you may be paying significantly more for services purely because they are for a wedding.
Having a wedding isn’t as simple as saying “I do” and it’s a lot more expensive.
The average cost of a wedding in 2019 was $33,900 , according to The Knot’s 2019 Real Weddings Study.
The average American wedding costs $30,000, according to The Knot, a popular wedding planning website.
That money could buy a nice new car or be a 20% down payment on a $150,000 home. It’s also more than many Americans earn in a year.
How do wedding costs get so out of hand? And what can you do to keep costs down when it’s your turn to tie the knot? I’m getting hitched in less than three months, so I’ve been thinking about this quite a bit. Here’s what I’ve found.
Ironically, most people I know always say things like “We don’t want a big wedding” and “It doesn’t have to cost much.”
- Church/Officiant Fee: $500
- Food: $40/plate x 100 = $4,000
- Open Bar: $3,500
- Total: $20,750
