What Can You Put On A Wedding Registry

What Not To Put On Your Wedding Registry

WHAT TO PUT ON YOUR WEDDING REGISTRY!

Your wedding registry should be a shared list for you and your partner, so its probably not the best place for gifts that are super specific to just one of you. Instead, opt for things you can share with your significant other as you begin your new life together.

We also recommend avoiding too many expensive items for your registry. Be mindful of your guests and instead include a range of price points for them to choose from.

Lastly, dont put things on your wedding registry just for the sake of it. Select items that you will truly get good use out of and wont just stuff in a closet or drawer somewhere. Your guests want to get you something youll actually love, so make your selections intentional.

Check out our top 10 dos and donts of creating your wedding registry. Now that you know whats best to leave out, here are some great options to include on your list.

Most couples regret not registering for these bigger ticket items because of cost, says Jennifer Spector, Zolas director of brand and newlywed-at large. Put Registry Info On Invitations

things you NEED on your wedding registry

Another etiquette no-no is to put your wedding registry information on your invitations. The best way to let others know about your registry is to put the information and corresponding links on your wedding website. However, do not put the registry info on your home page this too is considered taboo, so dedicate a different page on your site to be all about the registry. Guests will find it if they want to know where youre registered. You should also tell your bridal party and close family where you are registered, so that they can spread the word to other guests when asked.

Be sure to register for more gifts than you have guests. This gives your guests more to choose from, and also makes it possible for them to compile multiple items as one package. It is also a good idea to register for more individual items than sets. Sets tend to be more expensive, and they limit the number of choices available to your guests.

What I Wish I Had Registered For

  • A cherry/olive pitter, and an apple peeler/corer/slicer. Yep, two totally random objects. Im not saying that everyone needs to own these two items, but I spend a lot of time pitting, peeling, coring, and slicing, so it makes sense for me to keep these around. These wedding registry items are ones that youll use to accomplish the tasks you find yourself doing over and over again. Here are links to some good ones.
  • Big, wooden cutting/carving boards. Nothing is as awkward as pulling the turkey out on Thanksgiving in front of your whole family only to realize that you do not own a cutting board big enough to carve the darn thing. Check out this one in the link below.
  • Four sets of nice sheets. Youll need a set for your room and the guest room, plus an extra one for each during laundry day. Somehow I completely forgot about registering for sheets, and my guest room *still* has really scratchy sheets that I bought from the Fred Meyer Red Tag store for $17.
  • A Dutch or French Oven, preferably with enameled cast iron. High-quality stove-to-oven cookware is worth its weight in gold. If you feel like splurging, register for Le Creuset. A more moderately priced alternative is Lodge brand. I have one of each and love them both, see links below for each.
  • Yard care stuff. Uh, yeah. Theres this part of your house called the outside. A lawnmower, weed whacker, and leaf blower would have really come in handy.
