Vanessa’s Destination Wedding Invitations – How to assemble your passport wedding invites!

Address your invitations correctlyto each guest by name, not “and guest”and guests should understand that the invite is meant for only those mentioned. If you find that some reply with their children’s names added, give them a call and explain you’re having an adults-only wedding and you hope they can still attend. If there are a lot of kids in your family, you may want to consider hiring or arranging for a babysitter. It’s definitely not required, but it’s a nice gesture. Just be sure to include this information on the wedding website.

Is It Too Soon

There is often a lot of debate about whether or not you can send out wedding invitations too early. Whilst you may be planning to wait a few years before being wed, it is important not to jump too far ahead in your planning timeline. Stay as close to the timeline as possible, as sending invitations too early can mean that some of your guests may forget or not be able to commit to your future date. Don’t forget, you are certainly able to chat with your friends and family and give them an idea of when the wedding will be so that they are aware.

When To Send Invitations & Save

At-Home Wedding Reception Invitation Zazzle

If youre having an at-home reception , I suggest mailing separate save-the-dates for your destination wedding and at-home reception but send them at the same time. Heres why if someone whos not invited to your destination wedding gets wind that youre getting married, but they didnt get a save-the-date in the mail, they could assume theyre not invited to the wedding at all, which can lead to hurt feelings. But if they get a save-the-date to the post wedding reception, then theyll know its just the more intimate destination wedding theyre not invited to, which is usually understandable. You can send destination wedding invitations at the same time or before your at-home-reception invitations.

Send Welcome Party And Rehearsal Dinner Invitations

If you’re hosting a welcome party for your guests the night before the wedding, that information should be included with the invitation suite or posted on your wedding website after they’re mailed out. You can also add RSVP information, such as who to contact , the location, and dress code if applicable.

When you mail your wedding invitations, you should also share final details about your rehearsal dinner for anyone invited. This will typically include everyone in your wedding party, their plus-ones, your parents, and other close family members or close friends.

What Percent Of Wedding Guests Will Attend

If you send your invitations out 6 to 8 weeks in advance, the likelihood is that most of your wedding guests will come. For local guests, the rule of thumb here is to estimate that 85% of your wedding guests will attend. Note: Do not forget to account for guests plus-ones if you have invited them or allowed for it.

When To Order Stationery Sample Packs

When should you mail your invitations? Before you even get to that question you have go right back to the beginning of the timeline and ask: when do I order a stationery sample pack? . Paperlust recommends ordering samples 9-12 months before the wedding or, if you have a short engagement, ASAP! You want to allow for shipping times , so always check how long it will take to get to you.

Once your sample pack arrives, you can narrow down your choice of paper and print type, as well as format, and get to picking your dream design online.

Include More Details In Your Invitation Suite

When to Send Destination Wedding Invitations

The design of the invitation itself is truly up to you to choose, though professional wedding planners often recommend that you tie it into your wedding theme in some waythrough colors or design embellishments.

Wedding etiquette demands that the invitation only contains the above key details of the event. However, the invitation suite can include other important details:

  • the appropriate attire for guests at the event
  • a map to the event location
  • accommodation details
  • information about any wedding-related activities.

It can also include an RSVP card, with a please respond by date that is roughly four weeks prior to your event. Dont forget a self-addressed, stamped envelope!

Wedding etiquette also demands that you leave gift or registry information out of your invitation suite. If you have prepared a wedding registry for your guests convenience, family members can help to spread this information. Additionally, you can include registry information on your wedding website, with easy links to follow.

Another important detail is the wedding invitation envelope, which should always be hand addressed in beautiful handwriting. Your guests names should be written out in full, preceded by social titles like Mr. and Ms.

All the words in the address should be written out in full, with house numbers under twenty spelled out. The return address should be written on the back flap.

Is It Proper Destination Wedding Etiquette To Pay For The Bridesmaids Dresses

No one in your bridal party will expect you to pay for their attire. And you dont have to. But if you have some extra money left in your budget, it would be a very nice gesture. You are already asking them to fork over a lot of dough for airfare, hotel, and other travel expenses. To also ask them to purchase an expensive dress that theyll only wear once can put a big strain on their budget.

If you cant afford it, try to go a little easy on their pockets by choosing an inexpensive dress style that they can wear again in the future.

When Do I Send My Wedding Invitations

Wedding invitations should be sent 6-8 weeks before your wedding. Some timelines will say 4-6 weeks before the wedding date but we like to err on the side of caution for two reasons.

1. If you havent sent save the dates, sending the wedding invitations 6-8 weeks prior to the wedding date will give your wedding guests plenty of time to make travel arrangements and plan for house/pet/babysitting.

2. You will need to get the wedding RSVPs back in time to give your wedding venue and caterer a head count. Your reply date should be 3-4 weeks before your wedding day. This will give you more time to call guests who dont respond, which will allow you to finalize your guest count and create a seating arrangement as well as place cards and/or escort cards.

If youre planning a destination wedding, you will want to send your destination wedding invitations 2-3 months before the date. You should also be sending save the dates 9-12 months before the date so guests have plenty of time to plan and budget.

Couples planning to get married on or near a holiday such as New Years Eve should follow the same guidelines as planning a destination wedding. Holidays book fast! Give your guests plenty of time to mark your wedding date on their calendars

P.S. When it comes time to contact guests who havent responded to your wedding invitations , its okay to call, text or email the guest. If you have time, ask them to send you the physical RSVP card so you can keep it for your records.

Is It Necessary To Book Excursions And Other Activities To Keep Guests Entertained

Not necessary. There are two schools of thought here because you probably chose a really nice location, you should let guests enjoy it at their leisure. If you over plan every second of their time, they wont have space to do their own thing. On the other hand some people believe that its a nice gesture to book at least one excursion or activity. The choice is really yours. If you do arrange something and invite guests, its proper destination wedding etiquette to cover the costs as well as transportation.

Timing Your Wedding Invitations

Vanessa’s Destination Wedding Invitations – Who We Are

Our recommendation is to send out your invitations between 8 to 12 weeks before your wedding, but if you need more time, 16 weeks early is acceptable.

Ultimately, you can send out your invitations whenever you want, but you should keep in mind that guests may forget that they RSVPd or simply forget to answer if you invite them too early. If youre worried about guests being double-booked, use a save-the-date to encourage them to mark their calendars. A wedding website, perhaps even with email updates, is another great way to remind guests about your upcoming celebration.

Do We Have To Invite Every Guest With A Date Or A Plus

No, you don’t have to. If a guest isn’t married or in a serious relationship, it’s perfectly acceptable to invite them solo. Most guests will understand that without “and Guest” or another name on the invitation, they aren’t invited with a plus-one. While it’s always nice to invite everyone with a guest, that can add up quickly . If a guest RSVPs for two, call them and explain you’re trying to be diligent about your guest list, unfortunately, you were not able to invite everyone with a guest. If you realize that nearly everyone will be coupled up, you might want to extend a plus-one invitation to your few single friends and family members.

Destination Wedding When To Send Invitations

Communicating rehearsal information is often. Some couples even choose to send anywhere from 12-6 months in advance but this isnt necessary if youve already sent a save-the-date.

When Should I Send Out My Wedding Invitations

The timing of sending out wedding invitations can be dependent on the types of guests youre inviting. If you are planning on having a guest list with primarily out of town guests or international wedding guests, a good rule of thumb is to send out your invitations sooner than you would for a primarily in-state guest list. I suggest to most of my clients to send out their wedding invitations two to three months before the wedding date. This allows for one to two months to collect the RSVPs.

Primarily In-state Guest Lists

If you are planning a wedding with primarily in-state guests, time is on your side. I say this because often, in-state guests will often not have to book expensive or last minute flights and accommodations. As we all know, it can be a risky game to play to wait longer to book a flight in the hopes that the price will go down. This is not an issue that many couples will have to consider if their guests are from the same state and even less so if they are from the surrounding towns. For my couples that primarily have in-state guests, I suggest sending out invitations about two months before the wedding date. If your invitation suite has fallen towards the bottom of your wedding to-do list, sending out invitations a month and a half month may still be appropriate. The benefits to sending invitations out two months prior are that you can set a longer RSVP reply date, hopefully avoiding any frustrations of any last-minute add ons or cancelations.
