Be Clear Whether Children Are Invited Or Not
Similar to the wedding registry, you will want to avoid including any cluttered information on the wedding invitation. Let your guests know if children are invited or not by addressing them in the invitation. Addressing only the parents full names on the invitation implies that children are not invited and that the wedding is an âadults-onlyâ event.
If, for any reason, your guests reply with their childrenâs names included, simply get in touch with them and let them know that it will be an adults-only event. The sooner you get in touch with your guests, the sooner they can make proper arrangements on their end.
Ceremony And Reception Location
Whether your ceremony and reception are taking place at the same spot or different venues, it’s imperative that you include the name and location. That way, your guests know exactly where they’re going and what time the festivities are starting. If the ceremony and reception are taking place at the same location, you can simply include a line like Reception to Follow,Celebration to Follow, or Dinner and Dancing to Follow. If your reception is at a different location, you’ll need to include a separate reception card with the start time and address.

Not much more to it. Write this nicely on a piece of good stationary and send it off.
No need to provide a reason for why you cannot make it if the invitation is of a highly formal nature.

Make sure that no matter which direction your guests are traveling, they will be able to make it on time. You may choose to include two sets of directions for guests coming from the east and guests driving from the west, for example.

While it might be tempting to indicate a ceremony start time thats earlier than the one youve planned, you may want to reconsider that thought. Looking to purchase your wedding rings? Check out our list of Wedding Ring Shops to help you choose.
If there is one thing wedding guests know, its to show up early to a wedding ceremony.
If you plan to begin your ceremony at 5 p.m., expect guests to arrive between 4:30 and 4:45and head down the aisle no later than 5:15.
If you tell guests the ceremony will begin at 4:45, theyll arrive closer to 4:00 and wait an hour to see your grand entrance.

The letter M is intended to be helpful although in practice we must admit its rather confusing.
The letter M is simply the beginning of the persons title Mr., Miss, Mrs. and Ms. which would then be followed by the persons name.
Lots of wedding response cards have replaced the M with less traditional Name or a simple blank line:

- British Format: Day Month Year .
- American Format: Month Day, Year .
- We would recommend including the day of the week and the year on your wedding invitations laying them out like this: On Saturday, 16th August 2025.
- The th, st or rd of the date should be in superscript but this cannot always be added via our editing tool, so our graphic designers will adjust the date appropriately.
- If you would like to write out the date in words then only the day of the week and the month should be in capital letters e.g. On Saturday, the sixteenth of August two thousand and twenty-five.

If youre having a reception at another location, you can either include it on the invitation or, more formally, print a reception card with the time and place.
On your information card, youll want to include any pre-and post-wedding events, hotel information, and a link to your wedding website. And dont forget the dress code!

Do Include Your Wedding Website
Your wedding website is a great resource hub for your guests. As mentioned before, this is an ideal space to put information not listed on your invitation or to go into greater detailfrom travel logistics to the weather forecast. You can even utilize it to collect RSVPs online. The easiest way to share your website is by including it on your invites.
- Standard wedding etiquette insists you dont put your website directly on your invitation, but if you choose to do so, add it to the bottom.
- Save the dates and enclosure cards are another great place to share your wedding website with your guests.
