Accommodations

If you are reserving hotel room blocks for out of town guests, it is recommended to share this information on an accommodation details card. This card is especially essential if you have a lot of out of town guests who may not be web-savvy enough to find room block details on your wedding website.

What to Include: Along with the name of the hotel and street address, inform guests of the name or group code your room blocks are listed under along with the date to reserve by. You may also wish to include the hotel’s phone number. If a shuttle is provided from the hotel to your venue, you may also add it here.

What Not to Include: You do not need to list the hotel website’s booking pagethese are often long and can look confusing. It’s best to include this on your wedding website. Don’t include too much informationsuch as the temperature, recommended airports, or other minor details guests can find on their own.

Ways to Save: Omit the added cost of including a website card by briefly including your wedding website at the bottom of this card.

Reception Insert

If your wedding and reception are held at different venues or if there is a long break between both events, this insert may be necessary to share all of the extra details with guests.

What Not to Include: If you have any other wedding festivities, such as a post-wedding brunch, do not list it on this card. It can appear confusing to guests if too many events are listed on one small insert card.

Attire Cards

If your wedding venue requires a strict dress code other than simply black-tie or cocktail attire, you may wish to include an attire card. This is especially important in the case where couples are married on military bases and a strict dress code is required for admittance.

What to Include: Brief attire suggestions, such as lawn-appropriate shoes or beach-casual.

What Not to Include: A long list of what they should not wear or too many attire suggestions. Keep it short and sweet by including only necessary details.

Ways to Save: You can skip this card by including all details on your wedding website. You may also notate black-tie or cocktail attire in the lower right hand corner of your invitation.

Registry Inserts

Traditional wedding etiquette states that you do not include wedding registry details on any of your wedding stationery. However, many brides may consider it necessary to share this information with loved ones, and for the most part, I agreethis insert can be especially useful for long-distance family and friends.

What to Include: Only list 2-3 stores that you are registered at.

What Not to Include: Any other information outside of your registry details, such as asking for monetary gifts or certain items off your registry.

Ways to Save: Skip this card and include wedding registry details on your website.

Many couples consider their wedding website or social media group their primary means of communication with guests. Whether youre using a Facebook group or creating a custom site about your wedding, youll want to include this info on your wedding invitation details card.

Some couples provide additional announcements for guests via group emails and text messages, which can be a great way to ensure guests see any announcements youve made on your website or social media posts.

As soon as you have the wedding invitation in hand, check your calendar and finalize your plans. Then, send back the reply card the minute you can get to a mailbox. Is The Event Formal Or Informal

Formal invitations are standard for events that call for formal or cocktail dress, such as weddings. Addresses, dates, and times are typically spelled out. A formal invitation card should use third person rather than first and include the full names of the event’s hosts. Letters may use first person, typically we, but should still maintain a formal tone. For social invitations, you may follow modified block format and omit the recipients address.

Informal invitations are appropriate for more casual events, such as a picnic or a baby shower. They are usually written in a conversational tone. Informal invitation cards may be written in first person.

What If A Guest Forgets To Write Their Name On The Rsvp Card

It will happen. I had multiple RSVP cards show up without names on them some of them with delightfully accepts and others with regretfully decline. To this day, this trick I am going to share with you was actually some of the best wedding advice I received! One of my friends who had already been married told me to number the back of each of my RSVP cards, and respectively number all the addresses on my guest list. For each invitation I stuffed, I made sure to include the correctly numbered RSVP card that correlated with the number by the guests name on the address sheet. It made my life so much easier. Not to mention, I almost got excited when one showed up without a name because then I was able to refer to my hand-dandy numbered address list to solve whos RSVP it was! Nerdy, I know, but also useful nonetheless!

What Does M Stand For In Wedding Rsvp Cards

The M stands for the first letter to Ms., Mr., or Mrs. on a wedding response card. You are then able to fill in the rest of the initials for your particular title, along with your full name and the name of your guest . For example, some lines may be filled out as

  • Mr. and Mrs. John Smith
  • Ms. Jane Pearson and Mr. Jason Brown
  • Ms. Angela Branford

With A Preprinted Response Card

The most traditional is where we have space for guests to write in their names…the second is a more restricted version where the hosts of the event will write in the guest names on the RSVP and how many guests they can bring , says Kentris. Another trend we are starting to see is including ‘attending in person’, ‘attending remotely’, and ‘unable to attend’ on a single card. This gives the guests options to choose how they participate in the event.

On these cards, if there is an M preceding a blank space, your social title goes first followed by your full name. Wiese Alexander advises writing your name exactly as it was written on the envelope. This means if the envelope is addressed to Mr. and Mrs. Smith, the response line should state, Mr. and Mrs. Smith but if the envelope is addressed to Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Maggie and Drew, then the response would include: Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Maggie and Drew…

Use a number as opposed to a checkmark to confirm your response. For example, ___ accept and ___ regret would be filled out as _2_ accept and _2_ regret if the kids arent coming. Should an entree selection be included, the choices should be initialed by the guest, so the host knows exactly who is getting what.

RSVP cards are included in the same envelope as your wedding invitations, typically placed on top. Theyre accompanied by postmarked, addressed return envelopes so that guests can fill out the required info and send back the completed card to you with minimal effort.
