Keeping The Flowers Fresh
Use flowers that do well in the local climate, and make sure they do well out of water.
If youre buying the flowers because friends are doing the arrangements, make sure you buy the flowers from reputable sources so the flowers arrive in good condition and wont die on the morning of the wedding.
Keep the flowers in water until its time to set them in place.
Keep your flowers in a cool location for at least three hours before the wedding so they dont wilt during the ceremony.

Dont Let The Numbers Fool You
The $19,000 average is steep and thats lower than in recent years, due to smaller-than-normal celebrations during the COVID-19 pandemic. But remember that averages dont tell the whole story. Experts point out that they can easily be skewed.
One $1 million wedding can bring up the average of thousands of $10,000 weddings, says Jessica Bishop, wedding expert and founder of the Budget Savvy Bride.
So treat this data as a benchmark, not an expectation. And you don’t have to spring for all the items on the list. For example, you might decide to skip favors and hook your smartphone up to a speaker system instead of hiring a band or DJ.

What Is Your Definition Of A Budget Wedding
What are the aspects that make a wedding a budget wedding? We explore the definition of a budget wedding in this post.
What is your definition of a budget wedding?
Someone asked me this question and it got me thinking
What is a budget wedding? Budget is kind of a relative term, isnt it? Everyones got a budget. Everyone has a dollar amount they are planning to spend based on their personal financial situation. Truthfully, the definition of a budget is drastically different depending on who you talk to.
No matter how many commonalities you have with your friends and family in regards to general economic standing and financials, weddings are a whole other ball game. At the end of the day, your wedding budget should reflect your own personal priorities, values, and financial situation no one elses.
But as far as defining what a budget wedding is, I think it truly depends on the region in which you live or are planning your wedding. For someone who lives in a major metropolitan area such as New York City or Los Angeles, $20,000 might be considered a budget wedding because the average for that area is $50,000 or higher. Whereas someone who lives in a more rural area, where the average is closer to $15,000 might consider $5k to be budget. Ya know what I mean?
To me, its all about being budget savvy. Its not about how much you spend, its about how smartly you spend it. Of course, we have tons of tips to make your budget stretch if needed.
Why You Should Have A Micro Wedding
During the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, micro weddings are a shining light. Many couples dont want a courthouse wedding, and pushing off a wedding a few additional months may or may not be possibleand it might have to be pushed again! Micro weddings provide an alternative to couples who are ready to tie the knot.

Average Wedding Cost In Canada: Budgeting A Canadian Wedding
Theres quite a bit of content on an average wedding cost in the U.S. In this article we researched the subject as it relates to Canadian weddings.
One of the largest checks that youll be able to cut on your wedding day will be the cost of the wedding catering. Food and beverages can definitely eat up the budget and usually accounts for about 40 to 50 percent of the entire wedding budget.
Its quite unbelievable isnt it? Think about eating out in a typical restaurant for dinner, the overall cost of medium-size meal for one is roughly 30 dollars for each with tip and tax, not including alcohol.
Consider this number and then multiply by 200 people, it will total to about 6,000 dollars, scary enough right? However, itll be more terrifying when you actually add more glasses of wine, tables for dessert, and cocktail hour! The number will be doubled! Catering is not cheap indeed fortunately there are things that you can do to save on your next catering order.
Wedding Flower Budget Mistakes
First, lets talk about some budgeting mistakes. You might be thinking youve done some research and youre making great budgeting decisions but here are a few important mistakes to avoid:
Mistake #1: Taking advice from ill-equipped sources.
You might have read some great budgeting info from hmmm, actually youre not really sure what the source is. If you dont know who is writing this info or where theyre located, be dubious. Advice from a floral designer in Souther California will probably leave you short at the checkout because their product costs are *much* lower than in Southern Ontario. If you are in love with a particular style, make sure the pricing info comes from a source that works in a similar style.
Mistake #2: Mis-aligning your inspiration with your expected budget.
Mistake #3: Strictly applying wedding planning percentages
Mistake #4: Under-estimating labour, delivery, set-up and tax.
Making, delivering and setting-up wedding flowers can be a huge, labour-intensive job depending on the scale of the order. It is important to remember that there is a big difference between contracting flowers for your whole wedding and buying a single rose at your local mom and pop florist. The pricing will be entirely different. If you are wondering why labour and delivery of wedding flowers costs so much when pizza delivery is always free, read more here. As always in Ontario, HST is an additional 13%. Make sure you account for the taxmans piece too!

Is It Rude To Have A Small Wedding
Whether your ceremony venue is tiny or youre a shy couple trying not to make a spectacle of your vows, if youre not inviting a large portion of guests to the service, then you should truly keep it intimate. That means including, at most, your immediate family, wedding party and/or closest VIP friends only.
Save Your Honeymoon For Later
As we all know, vacations are expensive, and spending can easily get out of hand when on your honeymoon. Now, were not saying you should skip the post-wedding holiday 78% of couples surveyed in Canada and abroad had honeymoons but you may want to postpone yours for a while, especially if you want to do something pricey, like yachting in the Maldives or staying in a private villa in Bora Bora. To celebrate, think about doing a minimoon or a staycation and save the main event for later.
