Wedding Reception Ideas To Transform
Everyone has a different sense of whats acceptable and what isnt. However, these are a couple wedding reception ideas I believe need to be transformed.
The Garter Toss Wedding Tradition
At one time, this tradition seemed benign. It originated because the groom wanted to keep people from getting a piece of the brides dress for good luck. So the groom tossed out a piece of the brides wedding attire. Not that long ago, brides would discreetly have an extra garter on hand for the groom to throw out. Today, however, many couples have thrown discretion out the window and the groom makes a big display of removing the brides garter with his teeth.
Christian ladies and gentlemen.removing the garter with the grooms teeth is one tradition that needs to stop. Save the intimacy for the honeymoon and stop horrifying many of your guests!
In fact, a beautiful tradition to begin would be a ceremony of washing one anothers feet as a commitment to serve one another as Christ served his disciples. Photo by Ryan Ray Photography via Style Me Pretty

How To Handle Dessert Service
Much like dinner service, the days of a long dessert buffet table stacked with goodies for guests to graze through are gone. At least for the foreseeable future.
If youd like to do a variety of desserts, youll either need to do a safe buffet like the one described above, or have a selection of desserts pre-plated and served to guests individually by wait staff.
If you are serving wedding cake as dessert, it should be sliced and plated in the kitchen and served to guests at their dinner tables. It used to be common for staff to slice the cake and plate it in the kitchen and then place the cake plates on a communal table where guests could pick up a slice if they wanted one. Thats out the window too.

Friend groups too chances are you have two friends who dont get along easily but whove all sworn to show up in your wedding.
Furthermore, if you are not a big fan of parties specifically dedicated to you, you dislike family events or dont want even your closest friends to attend your wedding, you have a good reason to skip the whole reception thing in favor of something else or nothing.

Wedding Reception Ideas To Keep
Even though wedding reception traditions have evolved over time in their meanings, it is interesting to learn what the original meanings are for wedding reception traditions. A great source for understanding the meaning of traditional wedding reception ideas is at RobertsCentre.com.
We recommend definitely keeping these traditions because of their meaning.
Something Old, New, Borrowed, and Blue Wedding Tradition
According to RobertsCentre.com, Something Old represents the ties to the brides family and her past. Something New represents a life to come with her husband. Something Borrowed must be an item from someone who is in a successful marriage to pass on the good luck. And Something Blue stands for faithfulness, loyalty and purity.
The Wedding Cake Wedding Tradition
Because the wedding cake was a symbol of fertility and prosperity, people used to throw the cake at the bride. Instead, today the bride and groom take turns feeding the first bite of cake to one another. The gesture of feeding cake to each other is a symbol of the commitment the bride and groom are making. Believe it or not, one noted pastor says that he can predict divorce from the way the bride and groom serve the cake. Find out why.

You Dont Recognize The Traditions Of The Western Wedding
The reception ceremony is part of the sophisticated traditions that define the western Christian wedding.
A typical Christian wedding involves
- catching the flowers thrown by the bride
- cutting and feeding the cake to guests
What if you dont recognize all these not-so-essential shows and rituals?
Fortunately, there is no set of rules that spells out how to hold your wedding.
So, you can skip all these unnecessary parts, including reception, and let the guests munch the cake, get entertained, ditch the formal dress and suit, celebrate with a specific theme of your liking, and then walk home without thanking each other.
No Weather Or Travel Woes
Travel can be another stressful aspect of your wedding day, for both you and your guests. Renting a limo or party bus is a lot of added cost to your day. And fitting your wedding dress and into your everyday ride is not exactly the ideal situation when moving from the ceremony to the reception.
Dont forget, while some of your guests are local, a lot of your loved ones have traveled from far and wide to be a part of your big day. Those guests who are traveling from out of town may not be familiar with your city and could have a hard time getting around. You dont youre your Great Aunt or your fiancés cousin getting lost and calling frantically because they cant find the venue. Having your ceremony and reception at one venue means less stress for everyone.
Having a wedding in Minnesota means the weather is about as unpredictable as it gets. Between rain, snow, extreme heat, extreme coldyou never know what the weather on the day of your wedding could look like. When holding your wedding festivities at one location, you dont have to worry about the weather being a factor when it comes to traveling to, from and between locations.
Let Your Shared Hobbies Inspire You
If you’re grasping at straws and simply can’t come up with a totally original idea for your special day, look no further than the activities that bring you and your partner joy. “Think about what you both love and if there are experiences you have had together that you would want to relive or incorporate,” suggests Diana Lin of Cóllectives by Diana. “I take inspiration from my travels, from art and fashion. It’s always a great starting point as it can help guide you the rest of the way. Don’t think about what’s normal or traditional but think about what makes your day uniquely yours.” Virginia Frischkorn, wedding planner and owner of Bluebird Productions and Bluebird in a Box concurs. “Think of activities you’ve done as a couple that have brought you the most joy. Recreate that for your guests so they can have a peek into what makes you happiest. Genuine moments/experiences are what create the strongest bonds.”

Handling Objects And Communal Resources
Surfaces can become contaminated with viruses like COVID-19. Once contaminated, touching them can transfer viruses to peoples eyes, nose or mouth. From there, viruses can enter someones body and infect them. This means that, touching or kissing objects that are handled communally including consumables, carries a risk of catching or spreading a virus.
The use of shared communal objects, including consumables, is now a personal choice. However, youre advised to follow the advice on personal hygiene.
How To Hold A Virtual Wedding
While couples all over the world are postponing their weddings, you and your partner may be ready to continue on with the marriage, regardless of whats going on around you. If that sounds like you, a livestream wedding is a great option! Plus, you can still host the Wedding After Party at the Georgia wedding venue of your dreams!
As long as you have access to fast internet, you have what you need to perform the ceremony and stream it online! This is new territory for everyone, so weve decided to create a step-by-step guide to planning and executing your virtual wedding with an in-person reception to follow.

Social Distancing And Capacity
From 19 July social distancing restrictions no longer apply. This means that you do not need to implement social distancing at a wedding, civil partnership ceremony, reception or celebration, and attendees do not need to socially distance.
You may choose to limit the close contact you have with people you do not usually live with. You may also choose to take a free test before being in close contact to help manage periods of risk. These are personal choices which can help reduce your risk of catching or spreading COVID-19.
Its important to consider that others may wish to take a more cautious approach as we open up. We should all be considerate of this, and provide the opportunity and space for others to reduce close contacts if they wish.
Please refer to the guidance on how to stay safe and prevent the spread of COVID-19 for further information and the actions to take to reduce the chance of spreading COVID-19.
Government Or Civic Building
These can range from city hall weddings that include only a 10-minute ceremony to receptions in the grand entrance hall of a civic building. Expect strict parameters for decor and vendors in historic government buildings such as the landmark Minneapolis City Hall and Hennepin County Courthouse, which is still home to city, county, and court offices.

Craft Brewery Or Distillery
A welcome twist on vineyard weddings for couples who prefer beer or spirits over wine. Many have on-site restaurants to cater your affair, or you can hire local food trucks to pull up next to an outside courtyard. These venues often deliver a hip industrial and rustic vibe like the one found at the Westland Distillery, where your feast takes place at a banquet table between stacks of wooden casks.
Ask About A Point Person
Chances are, the person you set the reservation and go over event details with wont be your actual server throughout the evening. Or, the restaurant may decide to designate multiple employees to your party to best serve you. Ask who will be your day-of point person ahead of time in case any questions or changes arise. If you need to do a quick menu adjustment for one guest, or if you think you need to up your wine count, youll want to make sure you know exactly who to ask when it gets busy.
