Do You Need Programs For A Wedding

Fun Wedding Program Options

How to Design Wedding Programs : DIY Wedding Invitations

If you’re having an outdoor wedding, a wedding program fan with an attached handle lets guests keep a cool breeze flowing while they await your arrival. In addition to classic square or rectangular program fans, you can also get ones shaped like shells or hearts for added charm. Programs with a printed story of how you met your spouse-to-be gives waiting guests something interesting to read before the ceremony starts.

Another idea is to attach any necessary items your guests need directly to the program. Sparklers or small jars of bubbles handed out with your wedding programs lets guests get ready to play their part in your ceremony or send-off.

You can get wedding programs that match your invitations and wedding color palette to create a coordinated look across all of your wedding stationery. Whether you’re having a formal marriage mass in a historic cathedral or celebrating your love on a sandy beach, there’s a wedding program perfect for your event.

The design elements on your program also reflect the theme of your ceremony. Look for a wedding program with seashell graphics to celebrate a beach wedding or pick a floral-adorned program that reflects the type of flowers growing on the mountainside meadow where your event takes place. Unique wedding programs that showcase your interests as a couple give you a way to further personalize your event.

Ceremony Program With Wedding

An awesome way to help guests get to know your wedding-party VIPs a bit better is stationery that includes fun illustrations and a brief bio for each member. This idea is not only helpful, its colorful and fun.

Ways to Display: Roll these up like scrolls and tie them with a colorful ribbon that matches the wedding theme. Have them positioned on a table near the entrance to the ceremony or waiting on guests seats.

Other Things To Remember

Wishing Well. For guests to place money or cards.

Gifts. For bridesmaids, groomsmen and people such as the parents of the bride and groom.

Wedding Rings. Keep them in their original boxes so they’re harder to lose or smudge.

Ring Cushion. For the page boy or ring bearer.

Thank You Cards. To send out after you get back from the honeymoon and sort through the gifts.

Cleanup, Gift Pickup & Payment. Will any bar tabs or reception costs need to be paid following the wedding? Who will take the gifts home from the reception? Will anyone need to clean up or pack up once the bride and groom leave the wedding reception to start their honeymoon?

Rentals. Do you need to rent any chairs or other items, especially if you are having an outdoor wedding?

Now that you’ve decided to order wedding ceremony programs, you might wonder how many programs to order. As we suggest ordering your wedding programs one to two months ahead of your wedding day, your guest count may not be finalized. There’s still a way to figure out how many programs you should order. If you want your wedding program to be easy to read with a simple design, these 10 options are just for you!

Classic Letterpress

Although many couples opt for wedding programs that are elaborate and highly-stylized, some brides and grooms prefer simple wedding programs with only the most basic information. This beautiful letterpress design is concise and traditional.

Bold Font

If you do want to put more information in your program, but not at the cost of your minimalist preferences, use a folded or booklet wedding program with a bold font on the cover.

Just a Splash of Color

Add just a bit of color and you still wont have to sacrifice a clean layout. This long wedding program outlines a basic schedule for the ceremony and lists the wedding party members.

Themed Header

If you are looking for simple wedding programs, but also hoping to find something in your theme, find a stylized header. This vintage-inspired botanical wreath sits at the top, with the information clearly printed below. Whenever you use more stylized fonts, however, make sure to only use two. More fonts than that will overwhelm the design and lead to a congested, messy program.

Minimalist Church Wedding Program

Getting a minimalist theme for a wedding is getting popular nowadays, so if you want to do away with the myriad of design and decor options for a wedding, why not choose the uncomplicated path of minimalism? Through this kind of theme, the attention of the guests will be directed to where it should be and that is on the bride and the groom. Make sure that your church wedding program will also reflect your overall wedding ceremony theme.

When Don’t You Need A Wedding Program

A small, intimate ceremony without any attendants might be streamlined enough that a wedding program isn’t needed. You might also be able to forgo having a program if you plan on a short ceremony without a formal reception afterward.

Even if you’re having a smaller wedding, a program might come in handy for explaining specific rituals or providing the wording for poems or prayers incorporated into your ceremony. If a traditional folded wedding program isn’t necessary, consider a slim tea-length wedding program that is just big enough to fit essential information.

Two: Fill In The Details

When you’re getting into the details, you can keep things more general or get really specific. The proceedings could be straightforward or go into detail about the order of the processional, which readings are included, and any additional blessings or unity rituals you’re including. For a religious ceremony, in particular, you should include the names of any readings or songs that will be included in the ceremony, with the optional addition of page numbers so guests can follow along in the scripture.

When you’re naming those participating in the ceremony, the traditional format is as follows: the parents of the bride, the parents of the groom, the bridesmaids and groomsmen , the flower girl and ring bearer, ushers and readers, and the officiant. If you are getting married by a religious officiant or someone whose job enables them to perform a marriage , be sure to include their proper title . You could also list everyone’s names in the order in which they’ll walk down the aisle so guests can follow along as each person appears.

Are Wedding Programs Necessary

Theres a lot to think about when it comes to the wedding day. And, a lot of expenses. This might leave you questioning whether all these traditional wedding aspects are necessary. While some may tell you otherwise, the truth is there isnt a right way to do things. This is your day, and it is really about what makes sense to you as a couple! One particular item couples tend to question is wedding programs. Are wedding programs really necessary? The short answer is no! Totally Frivolous But Still Fun Reasons To Have Wedding Programs

Sometimes we just want a program for the fun stuff. Ive noted some of these fun reasons or extraneous reasons to have a wedding program in the list below. Its not that wedding programs arent FUN they are! But that doesnt make them necessary.

So without further ado, here are some completely unnecessary, but still fun, reasons you may want to do wedding programs:

  • Having pictures and/or blurbs about your wedding party. Some people like to honor their wedding party in this way and make them feel extra special.
  • Saying thank you to family, parents, and anyone else whos helped you with the wedding. This is a really nice thing to do in print, but really can just be done verbally at some point during the ceremony or reception.
  • Printing a favorite poem, verse, excerpt, or prayer. But this can also be done verbally in your vows or in the form of a reading.
  • Acknowledging loved ones who have passed away. This is lovely but can also be done in other ways, such as placing framed photos on the guest book or welcome table at the reception.

How Much Does It Cost To Print Wedding Programs

Wedding Program Basics | Perfect Wedding

If you’re narrowing down a budget for your wedding ceremony programs, consider these factors. A one-sided piece of paper will be less expensive than a pamphlet or mini-book. Extra details may bring added costs. The quantity you purchase also influences the price . In general, most wedding programs will cost anywhere from one to six dollars per program.

Announcements + Start Dinner

Once you guys are all seated, have your DJ or designated MC make announcements. This could include things like:

  • How long drinks will be served
  • Where the bathrooms are
  • A reminder to sign the guest book

At this point, announce the start of dinner to your guests. This could be in the form of a prayer, blessing, or just letting everyone know dinner will start.

Note: if youre having a buffet, let your guests know that you will be dismissed by table so theres not a mad rush.

Having A Program Depends On The Complexity Of Your Ceremony

If you’re having a short service with limited readings and songs, and your bridal party is minimal, you can probably skip the program. On the other hand, if your ceremony will be multicultural or interfaith, say with both a minister and a rabbi officiating, it would be helpful to have a program that lists the main prayers and blessings, song lyrics, and significance of any rituals so guests can follow along.
