Get Flowers In Any Season
One of the biggest benefits of learning how to make a bouquet of fake flowers is the ability to choose any blooms, no matter the season, without worrying about surging costs due to flower shortages or market fluctuations. Fake flowers dont go out of season, so your bouquet can contain any type of blooms you prefer.
When you use real flowers for your bridal bouquet, there are limitations based on season, availability, and price of the blossom. With artificial flowers, you can create a DIY wedding bouquet with any flower you want and different colors to match your theme.

What You Need To Make Diy Fake Flower Wedding Bouquets
I searched for the perfect flowers for weeks and ended up finding blooms at Hobby Lobby, Michaels and surprisingly, Walmart. I knew I wanted peonies and a subtle mix of coral, teal, peach and pink, so I just snagged a few pretty blooms in those shades anytime I was out.
I ended up with peach peonies, white magnolias and hydrangeas, silvery green dusty miller and some other pinkish flower that might not be a real species, but it fit the aesthetic so I used it.
One afternoon, I gathered all the goodies around me on the floor, planning for hours of bouquet crafting. I was concurrently disappointed and proud when it took less than an hour for both bouquets. It could not have been easier!
It was one of the easiest and cheapest DIY craft projects I did for the whole wedding.

When it comes to creating silk flower bouquets, we get a few questions from our consumers. So, weve created this post to answer any questions you may have when it comes to creating your own bouquet with artificial flowers.
S For Building The Bouquet
Step 1: Gather up a few of your pink mauve roses and use them as your base for the bouquet. Use floral tape to secure them together.
Step 2: Trim the greenery off of any stems that you feel necessary. You’ll add additional greenery later so don’t worry about saving the trimmings. Mix in your Real Touch Dutchess roses around the base and secure them with floral tape once they’re in place.
Step 3: Create some shape with your bouquet by building it out with your other blooms in clusters like we’ve shown below. Don’t be afraid to move some things around if it doesn’t feel right! Once everything is in its place, secure with more floral tape.
Step 4: Add in some greenery around the perimeter of the bouquet. We used 3 different kinds of eucalyptus for this bouquet. For this step, we added our seeded eucalyptus and the green burgundy eucalyptus stems.
Step 5: Establish the “front” side of your bouquet. Here, you’ll add your lilacs in and don’t be afraid to bend them a bit so they create a draping look.
Step 6: To make this bouquet really stand out, we chose a focal eucalyptus stem for added texture and shape. We used a spiral eucalyptus branch. Fill the perimeter with a few trimmings of this larger stem.
Step 7: Once your flowers and your greenery are where you’d like them, secure the last stems with floral tape. Trim your stems down to one height, but make sure it’s comfortable enough for you to hold. We left about 8 inches of stem.

Today Im excited to share with you another post in my wedding series! Last week, I shared my wedding invitations with you all. Yesterday marked our one month of being married! I cant believe that a month has already gone by. Time needs to slow down.
The fun part of the wedding being over, is that we get to enjoy all the pictures! My photographer did an amazing job on my bridal portraits, so Ive been able to share those on Facebook. My bridal portrait session was exactly as I imagined fun and relaxed! I had always known that I wanted to get bridal portraits done, but hadnt thought of using a silk flower bouquet until I started doing some research.
Using silk flowers means you get to keep the bouquet forever! Also, its much more user-friendly the day of your bridal portraits. Sessions are usually about two hours long, and youre holding different poses, walking around, tossing your veil about, etc. You dont want to be worrying about live flowers staying fresh , petals falling off, wilting or browning before your session!
To make this bouquet, youll need:
Trim the big leaves and stems off of the hydrangea.
It’s Not Tacky To Use Silk Wedding Flowers In Some Places That Are Outside Of The Direct Line Of Vision
You can use them in arrangements that are high up on a wall or in the distance. Sub a few fake flowers to swag the orchestra balcony at the church and no one will know. Consider other faraway places to place your fake flowers like in the dark dance room near the band or over door arches.

Diy Wedding Bouquets In Any Size
Another benefit of using artificial flowers for your wedding bouquet is that you can make it as big as youd like! With real florals, the cost can often deter you from having a large bouquet. Many brides opt for smaller bridal bouquets to cut the price down, but with artificial flowers you can make a big, gorgeous bouquet.
You can also DIY a boutonniere for the groom and his groomsmen!
The Benefits Of A Diy Bouquet
If it fits your budget, opting to have a floral designer create a gorgeous bouquet is a great option. However, much of the cost from a professionally crafted bouquet comes from the labor involved. Certainly, theres cost associated with sourcing fresh blooms, but the cost goes up depending on the amount of time spent and the complexity of the design. If youre able to skip it and do the labor yourself, youll definitely be able to shave quite a bit off of your floral budget.
