Fall Themed Wedding Invitations
Inside of invite and then all tied together
My fiance and I are getting married Oct. 10th of this year and are doing a fall themed wedding. I wanted something different than all the other monogrammed, pocketfold, etc. invitations. Which by the way I think are Beautiful, just couldn’t afford to buy them myself so I decided to make my own. I bought 12″x12″ Scrapbooking paper called Autumn Memories. I cut the brown sheets in half to use for the outside of the invites and then folded the ends to a point, cutting holes at the points for the ribbon. I then took the cream/kinda tan colored paper and cut it into 6×6 squares and just used microsoft word to print the info on them. I used orange paper for my RSVP’s, which are about the size of a business card. Since I didn’t have a pocket or anything to put them in, I just hole punched the top and ran the same ribbon through it that I did the rest of the invite. I went to hobby lobby and bought the leaf stamp and gold ink and stamped both sides of the invite and on each side of the rsvp. Once I got the ribbon through I hole punched a silk leaf and tied it all together!

When In Doubt Just Customize The Design
If, after reading all this, it turns out youre not as crafty as you thought, remember there are still ways to get creative with your wedding invitations even if you dont go the DIY route.
When you order invites from your local stationery store or sites like Wedding Paper Divas and Minted, you still get to choose the design and colors.
But, unlike with DIY invites, the company takes care of the rest.
Amy Gagnon, for example, used a company called Invitations by Dawn.
I filled out information as to what I was looking for in terms of look, style, theme, etc, she says. They then sent me a folder full of sample paper, color palettes, text samples and so on.
Once shed chosen the perfect combo, she ordered it from the site. It arrived as a single sheet she folded up to mail.
Gagnon loved her invitations, which cost about $1.50 each. My hand touched every part of them, she says. And then these two little hands went out in a snow storm on Valentines Day to send them out because it was cute, darnit.
Thats it! Now you know how to craft your DIY wedding invitations. Now all thats left to worry about is the band, the food, the cake, the dress, the honeymoon

How To Design Diy Wedding Invitations
There are two ways you can create custom DIY wedding invites: making your own from scratch or using a digital tool that allows customization. Both options let you customize your wedding invites while saving money, but choosing the best method depends on how much time and effort you can invest. Heres a quick breakdown of the different ways of creating DIY wedding invitations.
What Is A Faux Diy Wedding Card
A Faux DIY wedding card looks like it has been made by hand, but it actually hasnt been. It might have been printed with a DIY design or put together for you by the company. At Paperlust, for example, we print DIY wedding invitation designs that have been hand drawn by our designers and illustrators, and complete the DIY look with carefully-cut envelope liners or other envelope inserts and belly bands to hold everything together.
A faux DIY wedding card is perfect if you are going to be incorporating other DIY elements into your day, making the stationery match that vibe without all the stress involved in actually doing it yourself.

Printable Invitations And Paper Invites
Printable invitations involve creating your own designs or using a printable template online. To find templates, you can do a quick Google search or use sites like Etsy where sellers offer handmade options to make the DIY process easier. You can also order a custom rubber stamp with all of the wedding information printed in your chosen fonts. Then, you simply stamp your cardstock to complete your invitations.
Making invitations from scratch typically takes more time than creating digital invitations. To start, youll have to draw any artwork by hand and may need to adjust the wedding invitation template to get it to print properly. For less tech-savvy couples, this can take quite a while.
Youll also need to put each printable wedding invitation in an envelope, buy postage stamps, and mail out the invitations. And dont forget youll need to keep track of RSVP cards and monitor the responses on your own.
Keep in mind that while you may save money going the DIY paper route, you might not necessarily save time. You also want to consider your level of crafting talent before embarking on a completely DIY approach. For example, calligraphy skills are useful if youre hand-lettering your invitations and stationery.
The Benefits Of Diy Wedding Invitations
There are plenty of talented stationers and graphic designers out there who are working creatively to deliver you that can be customized and printed at home. For a fraction of the cost of a custom invitation suite and printing services, you can get a semi-custom invitation that will fit your wedding to a T. “Cost is definitely the biggest benefit,” says Kate Weber, owner and designer of West + Pine, a paper company focused on designing invitation templates for weddings and other special events. “This way you’re not having to pay someone else to do the printing service.”
According to Weber, printing your own invitations from a downloadable template gives you a great option to find an invitation design that suits your style, customize it to fit your specific wedding information, and then quickly print invitations on your own and ship them off. “You could easily do it in an afternoon with the right planning,” she says.
