  • Find out the states requirements for getting licensed to officiate the wedding.
  • Follow these requirements to the tee. You might have to pay a fee and fill in some paperwork with the state. In other situations, you can pay a fee and get ordained with a church online.
  • After the paperwork find out what exactly needs to be done to make the marriage ceremony legal. This might be asking the couple if they wish to marry each other. Another aspect that cements the legality of the wedding is the signing of the marriage certificate. How To Politely Decline An Offer To Officiate Your Wedding

Q: A friend or a family member offers to officiate your wedding ceremony. How to do you politely decline, so it wont hurt your relationship with that person?

In knotty situations like this, it is best to be upfront and get the awkward and uncomfortable refusal out of the way as quickly as possible. Dont put it off by saying, Can we think about it? or, We will let you know, hoping whoever made the offer will forgot he or she made it.

You might say, That is such a kind and thoughtful proposal. We so appreciate it. We love that you want to do this, but weve had someone else in mind for a very long time.

Or, we already asked someone and are waiting for an answer .

Depending on the circumstances, you might want to soften your no with, Can we consult with you if we have a question? and, We look forward to seeing you at the wedding and sharing our day.

Most think that the damage done by saying no is far worse than it turns out to be.

Its important to keep in mind that this is your wedding. How it unfolds will be in your memory bank for decades, therefore, you need to stick to your dream, your hopes and your own preferences, and that definitely includes the person who will tie the knot.

What Are Traveling Notary Public Services

Planning weddings can be quite stressful, and dealing with the administrative side of it just adds to the stress. If you need a notary public to notarize your documents or perform your ceremony, you will first need to find an adequate person who is licensed and available for your wedding day.

This can be quite a headache, so many people turn to traveling or mobile notary services to simplify things.

With mobile notary services, you can count on a licensed notary public when you need them and where you need them.

The notary travels to you to notarize your marriage certificate and solemnize the marriage in front of your family and friends. The notary will also make sure the license is signed correctly and then sent to the same county clerks office that issued it.

Both the bride and groom can rest easy knowing that all the legal paperwork of their union is taken care of by a professional. There are no worries about missed signatures or a technical mistake that makes the marriage invalid.

    Ensure The Marriage Is Valid

Marriage is a legally and formally recognized union of two people as partners in a relationship. This definition is crucial because it sets the tone for a serious and solemn ceremony. Marriage cannot be done in jest or as a spontaneous gesture.

It must be a willing union to commit to a legal contract, so neither party can be coerced to marry. If the couple is getting married in a non-serious or fraudulent manner and has not respected the regulations that govern marriage, the marriage certificate can be invalidated later.

    North Carolina Marriage Laws

North Carolina marriage laws place limits on who can marry based on a persons age and blood relationship to their prospective spouse.

    Age Restrictions:

    • A minor between the ages of 16-18 years: If he or she receives the written consent of his or her parent having full or joint legal custody, or of the person, agency or institution havinglegal custody of the minor, or of a person serving as guardian of the minor.
    • Minors between the ages of 14-16: If the prospective wife is pregnant, or has given birth, and intends to marry the father of her child. The court can authorize an underage marriage if the court determines that the minor is capable of assuming the responsibilities of marriage and that the marriage will be in the minors best interests. If the minors parents oppose his or her marriage, then it is presumed that it would not be in the minors best interests to marry.
    • Minors under the age of 14: Marriage laws NC hold that it is unlawful for any person under the age of 14 to marry.

    Familial Restrictions:

    • In regard to the blood relationship between the prospective spouses, North Carolina marriage laws forbid the marriage of persons who are in the same family.
    • First cousins may marry, but persons who are closer kin than first cousins may not marry.

Once both parties respond with I do, the notary public can ask them to place a ring on each others fingers and repeat the standard marriage ceremony oath. Once the ceremony is closed, the notary public can pronounce both parties as married.
