Supplies To Assemble The Invites:
Instead of messy glue sticks, I used this amazing product: the Scotch Tape Runner. I purchased it in the crafting section at Walmart, but you can also order it on . I got one of these and 2 refills. They cost around $5-7 for the dispenser, but the refills are a little less. These little runners were so easy to use and work great, so I cannot recommend them enough.
Offset Vs Digital Printing
Digital printing uses ink and lasersâthis is literally the same printing process that you get with a home office printer. Offset printing uses plates to press into the cardstock, making it the flashier, generally more expensive option.
Zola, Vistaprint, The Knot, Minted, Zazzle, and Etsy all offer affordable, digital printing options. They offer hundreds of customizable invitations designed by professionals. You can play around with the different add-ons to see how much the extrasâlike more luxurious paper and envelope linersâadd to the price. These printers may also offer more boutique printing services, like letterpress and foil stamping.
Both offset and digital printers often offer deals like free envelope addressing.
$0.35 â $2.00 per inviteFor the most budget-friendly option, look into digital printing. They donât have to be cookie-cutter: Digital printers often allow you to upload a custom design or a photo. Some sites, like Vistaprint, provide professional help to review your graphic design before you finalize your invitations.
Embossing and debossing
+/- $1 â $3 per inviteEmbossing presses letters into the front of the cardstock while de-bossing presses from the back. This method can be done with or without ink.
Hot stamping or foil stamping
+/- $1 â $3 per inviteFor a shiny flourish, the printer heats up a foil design before pressing it into the cardstock.

Redeeming Staples Coupon Codes
After you choose a product and design your print, the site will take you to the checkout page. On the right, you’ll see a box that says “Coupon Code.” Type your Staples promo code in the box and click the “Apply” button to add the coupon to your order. You might have to meet certain purchase requirements before you can add a coupon to your order.
How Did You Come Up With The Cut Guidelines
To make the cutting templates, I just created a box the size of the layer I needed cut. So for instance, the backing layer was 5×7. I created a new file and placed as many 5×7 boxes that could fit on a standard sheet of paper. That number ended up being two for the 5×7 size. For the smaller pieces like the RSVP, I was able to fit up to four per page.

Did Your Printer Enable You To Print Right To The Edge Of Your Top Layer
Thankfully, I was able to print to the edge of the pieces on the top layer of the invite. However, printing on a custom-sized paper was a challenge. It took a long time and lots of scrap paper to figure out the perfect printer settings. It was more of a headache than it was worth. I recommend printing your designs on standard letter size, and then getting them cut to size.
If youre willing to invest the time and energy into DIYing your wedding invites, you can save money!
Printing Cutting And Assembling The Invitations:
The invites are 3 layers in different shades: Seaglass, Opal, and Ice Blue. The paper I purchased will yield the 3 pieces for each invite, plus a response card and map card to also go inside the envelopes. The Ice Blue layer is the only printed layer of the invite itself. I used the custom print size settings to print the design onto the top layer of the invitation before assembling the layers.
I created cutting templates so that I could take the papers to Kinkos to get the papers cut. They charge $1 per cut.
Their industrial paper cutter can do exact measurements and cut 100s of sheets at a time. It cost me $16 plus tax to get the paper cut.
It was so worth it- imagine cutting 100s of pieces of paper and trying to do it accurately! Save yourself the headache and take your paper to Kinkos! I cannot stress this enough.

Printing Our Wedding Invitation Envelopes
To start, youll want an Excel spreadsheet of all of your guest addresses. I suggest one column for name , one for street address, one for street address 2 one for city, one for state, one for zip code, then a last one for country if you have any international invitations to mail. Next, create your envelope template in Word with the fonts and spacing for how you want your envelope addressed. Make sure you first change the page layout size to match that of your envelopes so you can get the scaling correctly!
I know I wanted a combination of a block font and a cursive one, and Id seen a few envelopes online with kindly deliver to written on them and liked that tiny detail. I used a text box and the font Didot to write the guest address, and wrote out the kindly deliver to in the font Amigirl Script . Complete a mail merge and youll magically have all of your addressed envelopes written out because nobody has time to copy paste 200 times!
Want my Word template of this invitation to use for your own mail merge? . No need to request access, just save it to your computer. Once its saved, open it in Microsoft Word and make any changes directly there! Remember youll have to get the fonts I used first to get my exact look , and you might have to change the paper size!
Hope this helps if youre considering printing your wedding invitation envelopes by yourself!

So, as i i understand it, the process is that Im supposed to go on the microsoft program and look for invitation templates? Thats my first question. Is it called wedding invitation templates? Then when I get it the way i want it, im supposed to save it on one of those sticks . Then i take that and the blank invitation cards that i bought to Staples, and they will print them out on my cards, right? Anybody know what i should expect to pay for 30 invites in this manner? I bought an invitation kit at the dollar store for a buck a piece for 2 boxes of 25 cards and envelopes. OR do they they have the template if i just provide the wording for the invitations ? Im so computer iliterate, its embarrassing! 🙂
Envelopes And Address Labels
Make sure to grab your social envelopes we discussed earlier. It’s usually located in the office supplies section of the store, where you might find packing tape and packing supplies.
From there, you can decide if you also want address labels – if you do, you can get the Avery brand and design them online or once again ask your graphic artist to make them in the same theme as your party and invitations.
If you are going to do address labels, you will have to print those at home on your printer, so make sure you have plenty of ink for your printer. All those supplies can be found in the office supplies section of Walmart. Gather them all up and by the time you get them in the cart, your prints will be ready to pick up.
At the kiosk, they have a scanner you scan your ticket’s barcode, and it will beep. The screen will tell you they are retrieving your order. There’s a small door below to open and get your prints.
Finally, your prints are ready! Pull them out of the door and get ready to stuff envelopes! They should look beautiful and exactly like the digital file.
