Where To Put Registry Info On Wedding Invitations

Dont Put Your Registry Information In Your Invitation

What information to include in your Wedding Invitations

This is one of those tips for a wedding registry that is not so obvious. The wedding registry message does not belong to the invitation card. Invite guests to your wedding without demands. You dont want to prop a gift as a qualification for attending the occasion. An invitation is supposed to request your loved ones to honor you with their presence. Let it do just that.

Can I Put Our Wedding Registry Info On Our Invites

Q: Friends and family members keep calling my mom and asking her where were registered at. Should we include this info on our Save the Dates or wedding invitations so everybody knows where to go?- Jenifer

A: The short answer? No. While I know it might seem weird to not put information people are asking for on your wedding invitations, the wedding etiquette rules surrounding this are pretty clear. The best place to put information about where youre registered at is on your wedding website. If a guest asks you or a relative where youre registered you can then have the choice to tell them the one or two stores youre registered at or direct them to your wedding website to get all the information. You should also list this URL on your Save the Dates, and on your accommodations insert with your wedding invitations.

Not sure what to put on your accommodations card in your wedding invitation suite? Heres an example. Note the URL to your wedding website on the bottom:

We have arranged for a group rate at the following hotels under the Smith/Jacobs wedding block.

Both hotels are a short cab ride to the ceremony/reception venue.

Be Clear About Whos Invited

On the invitation, very clearly note who you want to come to the wedding. If you want to invite a couple without their kids, only note their names on the invitation. Prefer to include the whole family? Then, write Mr. and Mrs. Jones and family or Bob and Stacy Johnson with Maddie, Taylor, and Oliver.

For your single friends, note their name andplus one if you want them to bring a date. You can also write their partners name if you know it. Inviting single friends on their own is perfectly acceptable if you have limited space.

Where To Create A Wedding Registry In Canada

Its fast and convenient to register and to shop online, so the retailer you choose should definitely have that option. But if your wish list includes merchandise, ideally there should be actual brick-and-mortar locations where you can see the products youre putting on your list. When you visit, you might discover additional items you hadnt thought of and youll be able to tap into the expertise of a wedding registry consultant. Besides, some guests might prefer to shop in person.

If your guest list includes people in cities across the country , a reputable national chain with multiple locations, such as Hudsons Bay Wedding Registry, Bed Bath & Beyond or Linen Chest, is a great choice. There might be a local retailer where you live thats renowned for its wedding gift registry .

Its OK and maybe even preferable to register at up to three different places, especially if you want to include specialty items such as camping gear, gardening tools, gift cards or a honeymoon fund. Just make sure you dont register for the same item in more than one place that just defeats one of the purposes of registering, which is to avoid duplicate gifts.

Be Clear Whether Children Are Invited Or Not

Wedding Registry Card Template in 2020

Similar to the wedding registry, you will want to avoid including any cluttered information on the wedding invitation. Let your guests know if children are invited or not by addressing them in the invitation. Addressing only the parents full names on the invitation implies that children are not invited and that the wedding is an âadults-onlyâ event.

If, for any reason, your guests reply with their childrenâs names included, simply get in touch with them and let them know that it will be an adults-only event. The sooner you get in touch with your guests, the sooner they can make proper arrangements on their end.

Mistake : Not Registering For Enough Items In A Range Of Prices

Having great wedding registry etiquette means keeping your guests’ best interests in mind, so your list should have plenty of options and cater to various budgets. There’s actually a secret formula to help you determine how many gifts to add to your registry: simply multiply your guest list by two, and add a few extras. Over-registering will give loved ones plenty of options, especially as items start to get purchased. Plus, your friends and family may be purchasing multiple gifts, while some will be looking to splurge on a big-ticket item. To cover all the bases, register for gifts that fall between $50 and $200 or more. Guests will have no problem using your gift registry when it has plenty of ideas at all price ranges.

The Right Way To Share Your Wedding Registry

Some sort of registry is a must for every engaged couple, whether you want to go the traditional route or shake it up with a honeymoon, experiential, or hobby-based version. But after you add all the gifts to your wedding wishlist, how are you supposed to spread the news to your nearest and dearest without seeming too, well, greedy? Like most wedding-related matters, the answer to this question comes with its own set of rules and etiquette. But with our little list of dos and donts, sharing your registry will be a piece of cake.

Do include information on your bridal shower invitations. Chances are, youre not throwing your own shower, so having if the host adds a link or note to the invitation, its totally fine. While a bride or groom asking for gifts directly can be taken as a little rude, your mom, aunt, or bestie can feel free to spread the word on your behalf. And, because bridal showers are actually all about the gift giving anyway , guests will want and need to know what youd like to receive.

Do put your wedding website on your save the date. While you dont necessarily have to say, Hey, were registered at Target! on the save the date, the announcement can be a good way to spread the word about your website. Everyone invited to the wedding will get that info and be able to figure out the details for themselves if they want to buy you something in honor of your nuptials.

How To Tell Guests Where Youre Registered

It seems that attitudes and rules about many things are in flux these days, and the realm of wedding gifts is no exception. So when it comes to the question of how to inform your guests that youre registered and where, there is no longer a hard-and-fast answer. Traditionally, discretion is paramount: if yours will be a very formal occasion with lots of your parents friends, for instance, you mustnt mention your gift registry in your wedding invitations . If youre being more casual about things , you might include registry info in your save-the-date cards, for example. One option is to include the URL of your wedding website on invitations, etc., and have your wedding registry information and link posted there. In any case, people will just ask you, or your parents, or members of your family or wedding party, so make sure everyone has the deets.

Where Do I Put Wedding Registry Information

Do not list this information on either the save the date card or the wedding invitation. It is considered very bad etiquette. The best place is to link the wedding registry details on your website although some couples opt to put a little card in with the invitation package.

Your wedding invitation is your announcement to the world about this incredibly important occasion in your lives. And it is something that you will want to cherish forever. In fact, some couples are so proud of their invitation that they end up framing it and putting it on the wall of their new home!

A beautiful invite is as critical as the venue you choose, the food you serve, and the speeches that are going to be told so be sure to take your time and get it right.

Include All The Relevant Details

Whether you opt for paper or digital, your wedding invitations should be a one-stop-shop for all the information guests need about your big day. The main part of the invitation should include your names, the time of the ceremony, and the location. Then, add details to the information card.

This insert should tell guests about pre-and post-wedding events. It should note the time and address of the reception, information on hotel accommodations, and anything else you think is relevant.

Address Your Guests Properly

Wedding Planning Vlog | diy, venue visit, invitations, decor, registry gifts & more!

Addressing your guests properly is a key part of wedding invitation etiquette and likely the first part of the wedding invitation that your guests will see upon opening. That said, this is the only section of the invitation that should include abbreviations . Here is a list of guidelines on how to properly address your guests with proper titles:

To a single woman:

Miss. Hailey Rose Johnson

or

Ms. Hailey Rose Johnson

To a married woman:

To a single or married man:

Mr. Benjamin Jeremy Jones

Mr. and Mrs. Nick Franklyn Walters

To a married couple with children:

Mr. and Mrs. Doug Michael Williams

Sarah Bailey Williams

To a married couple when one is a doctor

Doctor Jennifer Lynn Thomas and Mr. Daniel Robert Smith

or

Doctor Jennifer Lynn Smith and Mr. Daniel Robert Smith

or

Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Thomas and Doctor Daniel Robert Smith

To an unmarried couple living together:

Ms. Emily Elizabeth Brown and Mr. James Christopher Jacobson

While addressing your guests may seem like a fairly straightforward and simple task, you will want to be sure that you are addressing them properly. Its one of the most important and commonly mistaken factors when it comes to wedding invitation etiquette. If possible, use your guestâs full name, however, if you are unsure of a middle name, avoid using it altogether as opposed to abbreviating it with just the initial.
