Its no secret that the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum is my favorite French Quarter courtyard venue in all of New Orleans. Nestled on Chartres Street in the iconic French Quarter of New Orleans, the Pharmacy Museum was once an apothecary dating back to 1823. It features exhibits of early medicines, superstitious cures, and more. As you walk through the gorgeous museum, youll enter into the exposed brick courtyard space full of lush tropical palm trees. In the middle is a stunning fountain that is original to the space. Lets just say, I get all the feels when I walk into this space.
Michelles Planning & Design Notes: Having planned and designed at the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum many times over, I can tell you with confidence that the design options are limitless. My favorite way to approach this courtyard is to let the courtyard speak for itself and then to bring in little romantic details and decor elements that complement look and feel. The built-in archway makes for a natural ceremony spot. To really enhance the space, I love added bistro lighting and chandeliers for the trees. And custom lounge vignettes are a total must!
New Orleans Courtyard Wedding Venue: Beauregard Keyes House Courtyard

The Beauregard-Keyes house is a Victorian-style property with this incredibly lush garden full of greenery and a charming brick walkway that leads you back to a show-stopping fountain. The courtyard is intimate, historic and makes for an amazing wedding backdrop. Like all of the courtyards on my list here, the property itself is full of rich history and stories.
The stunning home was designed by François Correjolles in a style that sought to combine the notion of a Creole cottage with Greek Revival features. After changing hands numerous times, the Beauregard-Keyes family took over the home. At that point, it was restored and the beautiful garden and brick walls were re-built in the courtyard.

And How About A Second Line
One of the only-in-New-Orleans extras you could indulge yourself in is adding a second line parade to your wedding. Youll get a once-in-a-lifetime experience and wouldnt it be more fun than hiring a bus to move your party from the ceremony to reception?
Organizing a second line parade does require some planning in advance, including obtaining the parade permit and securing police escort from the City of New Orleans , hiring a band, and purchasing and personalizing the extras like handkerchiefs and parasols. It is possible to do it yourself, but it may be best to leave the planning to the local pros, especially if you have to plan and coordinate remotely.
Jazzman Entertainment has been organizing second line parades for over 15 years, including ones for weddings and bachelor/bachelorette parties. A standard package includes a five-piece band for up to an hour . You will also get a grand marshal , a parade permit, and police escort for 45 minutes on motorcycle, with one squad car riding last to close the parade. You can add more musicians, stilt walkers, costumed revelers, and other extras for additional cost.
The French Quarter Wedding Chapel, mentioned above, offers a second line parade in one of its more elaborate packages . This will come with the permits, the five-piece brass band with a grand marshal, the parasols, the beads, and the hankies.

Incorporate Hot New Orleans Trends In Your Nola Wedding
Once you pick your perfect New Orleans wedding venue, consider adding some distinct New Orleans flare to your special day. Some new and some old, these traditions are the hallmark of why so many choose New Orleans for their destination wedding.

New Orleans Board Of Trade
Originally built in 1880, the New Orleans Board Of Trade is a wedding venue in New Orleans with a ton of history. The Arcade event space at this venue is the perfect spot for a ceremony, with its cast-iron features and its history as a former nook of the former St. James Hotel from 1859. New Orleans Lakefront Airport
Constructed in the 1930s, the Lakefront Airport served as New Orleans major airport until 1946 when Louis Armstrong New Orleans National Airport opened. It was used by the U.S. Air Force during WWII and a Cold War-era bomb shelter. The Airport suffered major damage during Hurricanes Katrina in 2005 and Isaac in 2012, but was carefully restored to original Art Deco grandeur in 2013. All the original marble walls and columns, terrazzo floors and the coveted murals by world known artist Xavier Ganzales were restored, making the Lakefront Airport one of New Orleans most dramatic and applauded event spaces. A short stroll from my all time favorite courtyard in New Orleans, Brennans Restaurant courtyard is iconic New Orleans. Brennans is a Creole restaurant on 417 Royal Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Its full of charm and surrounded by years of history . A little history on Brennans: The iconic pink building was originally a private two-story French Quarter mansion constructed in 1795, built for Don José Faurie and later housed the Banque de la Louisiane, the first bank in Louisiana from 1841 to 1891. After changing hands many times, it officially became Brennans Restaurant in 1956. The owners renovated the building and the new Brennans was unveiled in the fall of 2014.

The courtyard and its amazing fountain is one of those historic details that hasnt lost one bit of its charm.
