Wedding package inclusions vary greatly depending on the hotel. The examples we are including, have packages that include at least a ceremony and a private 3-hour wedding reception as that seems to be the most popular with our wedding couples.
However, many hotels offer packages that will include a semi-private dinner in one of the existing restaurants instead of a private event. Packages that include semi-private events will cost less.
Also, consider that every package includes the symbolic ceremony. If you want a legal wedding, extra costs will apply.

Free Destination Wedding Packages
Yes, free destination wedding packages exist.
However, read the fine print. The free packages are only for a wedding ceremony and do have certain conditions.
For instance, they will include a simple ceremony at the less ideal times such as 11am or 2pm. They will include up to 10 people for the ceremony, and a toast. Most come with certain booking conditions such as book room category X for X nights and receive the free wedding package.

Hotel Riu Palace Riviera Maya
In the recently renovated Hotel Riu Place, you get to enjoy the white sands of Playa del Carmen. The beach and garden gazebo can accommodate 100 guests for your wedding. The resort offers three packages for couples tying the knot on-site, be it a religious ceremony, civil ceremony or renewal of vows. Common amenities in all the packages include
- Wedding cake
- Sparkling wine and toast
- Officiating services
There are additional services to the groom and bride. These services depend on the package selected. They include celebratory t-shirts, couple massages, and complimentary room upgrades. The resort also has wedding planners who will help you with the arrangement.

Most packages for a destination wedding in Mexico are not necessarily all-inclusive of everything you might want, so here are a few things you can add on at an extra cost that you may want to consider.
DJ, Dancefloor, Cold Fireworks
If your package includes a private reception, you are free to bring your own playlist and use the sound system .
For some that want a party, investing in a DJ may be a good idea. DJ costs will be approximately $300 USD per hour and include basic equipment.
Dancefloors are optional but do add an extra touch when on a soft surface like in the case of a beach reception. You can start with a basic 6×6 dancefloor and tweak to a personalized vinyl 12×12. Costs will vary depending but figure at least $800US to start.
Cold Fireworks are always a magical touch during the first dance.
Very few packages include photos or videos. Photos of your wedding and events are a great souvenir and often a worthwhile investment.
You can choose to go with the hotel-approved vendor , bring someone from home, or hire an outside vendor as your photographer of choice. Package pricing will vary depending on how much coverage you want . Same idea for the videography options.
Flowers, Decor, Lighting and other tweaks
Most packages will include the basics. Bouquet for the bride, boutonniere for the groom , white chairs, white linens, and possibly a table centerpiece.
Same for wedding decor. The minimum will be included in the package, and tweaks will come at a cost.

Secure Passports And Other Documents
A valid passport is a given for international travel, and you’ll at the very least need a driver’s license for domestic destinations. Double-check all expiration dates as soon as you choose your wedding date and location, then check again! Depending on the country, additional information, such as a list of previously visited countries, health records, or vaccinations, may be required.
Can We Bring Our Own Officiant
If you have decided to have a civil ceremony, it is required you be married by an officiant from the local civil registry in Mexico.
If, however, you are doing a ceremonial wedding, then you are absolutely allowed to bring your own officiant This chosen officiant will not have the power to legally marry you, however. It will be symbolic.

If I was to create a list of all the wedding packages in Mexico it would be extremely long and tedious to scroll through, but because of my knowledge and expertise, Ive decided to list my personal top three.
None of these three may be what youre looking for and thats fine, but at least you can get a rough of idea of the range of prices and whats included.
Often you will find that many of the packages are customizable so you can add or take things away for an extra cost or reduction.
You Will Probably Have To Hire A Wedding Planner And Other Vendors And You Likely Won’t Meet Them In Person Beforehand
For her destination wedding, Jabali said they definitely needed a wedding planner.
“You have to have someone in the area who knows the vendors,” she said. “This not only helps with the logistics, but it’s important that the local vendors have a local relationship that they care about to ensure you don’t get taken advantage of.”
Nichols said a big thing to consider is what kind of help you’ll need to hire like a wedding planner or a photographer. You should ask yourself, for example, if you’ll need a wedding planner that specializes in Bali weddings, and if you’ll fly your own photographer or use one employed by the resort. Similarly, will you hire someone to do your hair and makeup? Or perhaps a friend will be willing to help.
“These are big questions,” Nichols said. “I ended up bringing my photographer with me because that was one of my biggest must-haves, as I wanted to look back and document the weekend.”
She said, if possible, you should consider visiting your destination beforehand.
“If you can swing it, think about doing a site visit of the property and walking through all the details with everyone,” she said.
