South Padre Island Weddings
The beaches on South Padre Island are part of one of the longest barrier islands in the world. Its beaches are some of the widest in Texas and draw a huge Spring Break crowd. Hosting a wedding on the beach requires a permit from the City. However, the permit does not allow you to exclude other beachgoers from the beach. The cost of the permit depends on other elements of your wedding, such as sound amplification. Information about how to acquire a permit and what the permit includes, meaning reception space as well as ceremony space, and the cost of the permit can be obtained from South Padre’s City Hall.

Wedding table cakes cost $20 to $190, depending on the size, flavor and frosting choice, and the number of layers and fillings. Don’t Limit Yourself To Saturday Evening
Yes, we know you’ve heard it before, but it definitely bears repeating–having your wedding on a non-Saturday evening can save you tons of money. In fact, it’s such a money saver that I devoted an entire post to explaining it. Most wedding venues offer deep discounts for these off days/times. In addition, many vendors will knock off a percentage of their normal pricing structure . Thus, you can save money on numerous elements of a wedding when you consider a non-Saturday evening wedding.

Q: If Your Couple Has Bigger Goals Than They Can Afford How Would You Instruct Them On Downsizing What Should Go First
Cillia: People. That sounds harsh, but it is the fastest way to downsize the budget. The next thing we trim is anything I consider fluff. It is awesome but no one will really notice it. Custom champagne walls, deluxe invitations, party buses for the bridal party, etc. From there we discuss what is most important to them and go from there with our recommendations.
Cassie: One of our pillars is to be intentional. So we talk about their intentions and whats the most important to them. We ask our clients to put ratings on the importance of different elements of the wedding from culture to vendor categories and then when those are evaluated, we can talk about where their budget will follow. In the end, we have honest talks about how things are directly competing for the same funds, so that extra 20 guests could prevent you from having that awesome flower arrangement, so which is more important to you?

Least Expensive Wedding Features
The following features commonly found at weddings are much cheaper than the must-haves mentioned above. Depending on the scope and elaborateness of these more affordable features, they could still carry a high cost for some or, on the other hand, couples could reduce their expenses on these less-expensive parts of a wedding by getting creative.
The least expensive part of a wedding for most people are the favors that guests receive. On average, the cost of wedding favors was $353 in 2020. Depending on the type and amount of favors offered, the cost of favors could increase or decrease relative to the national average. For this reason, the couple could save money by avoiding expensive party favors.
2. Wedding cake
A wedding cake costs $441, or $6.68 per piece, based on the average number of guests that attended weddings in 2020. There are multiple ways to save money on this expense, however. For instance, the married couple could decide to serve smaller cuts of cake. Alternatively, they could order a smaller version of a wedding cake for presentation and then have a few sheet cakes in the kitchen to feed the mass of people.
Invitations cost $7.88 each on average , though much fancier invitations can command higher costs for every person. Couples looking to save could reduce their costs by making DIY cards or even going with 100% electronic invitations that are sent out as emails.

Factors That Affect Your Wedding Cost
The largest cost of your wedding is going to be the venue. After deciding on a date, the next thing you should consider is your location. As you can see in the infographic, the average wedding venue cost in the downtown Austin, Texas area is about $3600. Keep in mind, this information is what couples reported and not what wedding vendors reported.
From our experience and knowledge, the downtown wedding venues are priced higher than this, especially during peak wedding season, which is early spring and fall in Austin. These rates may be for the off-peak season.

Average Wedding Costs By Type Of Wedding
Where you live isn’t the only factor that affects how much you’re likely to spend when you celebrate the start of your life with your beloved. The type of wedding also makes a difference:
- Destination weddings average $32,000, while hometown weddings average $27,000.
- First marriages weddings average $30,000, while second weddings average $14,000.
- Millennials typically spend $30,000, while members of Gen Xers spend $20,000.
Hometown weddings come at a lower average cost than destination weddings for obvious reasons — it’s cheaper to stay local than to incur the costs of travel.
However, some of the extra wedding costs of a destination ceremony may be offset by a lower price tag for the honeymoon, assuming the couple celebrates in the location where the wedding was held.
It’s surprising, though, that millennials — who have faced unprecedented financial struggles — tend to spend more on their nuptials than their older counterparts. This discrepancy could be explained by the fact that social media has played an increasingly important role in driving the price of weddings up. More than half of all couples set up their own wedding hashtag in 2019.
Sexual orientation made almost no difference at all in average wedding costs. Opposite-sex couples spent an average of $28,000 while same-sex couples spent just $500 more.

How Much Do Weddings Cost In The Covid
For many betrothed couples, weddings will look very different in 2020 — and perhaps beyond — due to COVID-19.
With most states imposing limits on the number of people attending gatherings and with coronavirus continuing to spread, lavish affairs are being replaced with alternatives, including these three options:
- Shift weddings still involve a large guest list, but guests attend at appointed times
- Microweddings are typically small gatherings with under 50 guests. Most couples plan a larger reception at a later point.
- Minimonies normally involve 10 or fewer guests, mostly including close family members.
While shift weddings will likely retain the high average cost of more traditional affairs, microweddings and minimonies come with much smaller price tags.
In fact, one venue that normally charges approximately $30,000 for a standard wedding with 300 guests has indicated microweddings cost an estimated $2,750 for up to 30 guests or $4,500 for up to 50 guests.

What Are Some Of The Biggest Traps Or Things That Will Drive Up The Cost Of A Wedding Quickly
Cillia: Cutting corners in places that force other prices up. A good example is hiring a wedding venue that you dont like because it costs $1k and trying to use the decor budget to cover it up. Hidden fees that are tied into vendor contracts that are not reviewed well before signing. And, as always, over inviting.
Cassie: Wanting everything to be the most important thing can make things add up quickly. There is no way to keep that up throughout the whole wedding without seriously pushing past your budget. Beyond that, I would say not having a budget will make everything more expensive.
I understand that some clients have a perspective of itll cost what it costs. But in each category, there are ranges based on your values and what you want from that vendor. Without a whole number to make decisions and priorities with, each of them is the most important. When you walk into a vendor meeting, what they sell will be the most important thing. This is NOT a bad thing! Dont you want a cake vendor that is excited about your cake and wants to give you the best? Its up to the client to make decisions based on their priorities and look at whats important to them and get the best for their budget .
