Metallica’s Kirk Hammett And Robert Trujillo To Perform With The Wedding Band In Columbia South Carolina
THE WEDDING BAND, the side project of METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Robert Trujillo, along with UGLY KID JOE singer Whitfield Crane and BAD WOLVES guitarist Doc Coyle, will perform on Sunday, March 8 at The Senate in Columbia, South Carolina. They will be joined at the show by drummer Jon Theodore and guest vocalist Bobby Patterson.
When THE WEDDING BAND last performed in July 2019 at musical instrument and supply superstore Cosmo Music in Richmond Hill, Ontario a suburb of Toronto the group’s hour-long set included cover versions of such classics as AC/DC‘s “Highway To Hell” and “Live Wire”, Billy Idol‘s “White Wedding”, BLACK SABBATH‘s “War Pigs” and RAMONES‘ “Blitzkrieg Bop”.
Crane told the Ontario crowd about THE WEDDING BAND: “This band it’s a weird band. We played a wedding in Hawaii under a year ago, then we played another show at a Pipeline Masters thing . So now, somehow, we’ve become a band, which is just really fun-based. Fun is good. We love that. But it’s an eclectic bunch of songs with an eclectic bunch of men, playing a bunch of eclectic musical notes.”
As previously reported, Hammett‘s “It’s Alive! Classic Horror And Sci-Fi Art From The Kirk Hammett Collection” will be on display at the Columbia Museum of Art in Columbia from February 15 to May 17.
Hammett released a coffee table book in 2012 called “Too Much Horror Business” that featured photos of his extensive collection of monster and horror memorabilia.
Metallica Side Project The Wedding Band Announces California Show
Metallicas Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo have announced a new show with their covers side project, The Wedding Band.
The concert takes place May 27 in Napa, California, and is an official after-show of the BottleRock Napa Valley festival, which Metallica is headlining.

Along with Hammett and Trujillo, The Wedding Band features a rotating lineup, including Queens of the Stone Age drummer Jon Theodore, Bad Wolves guitarist Doc Coyle and Ugly Kid Joe vocalist Whitfield Crane. The groups sporadic live shows consist entirely of covers.

This past summer, Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Robert Trujillo formed a new side project, The Wedding Band. The supergroup held their first performance shortly after, and things have been relatively silent, until now. Today , the group featuring Hammett, Trujillo, Ugly Kid Joe singer Whitfield Crane, and Bad Wolves guitarist Doc Coyle has announced their overall second show will take place on Sunday, March 8th at The Senate in Columbia in South Carolina. The band will be joined by drummer Jon Theodore and guest vocals by Bobby Patterson.

In 2020, Hammett confirmed that he and his METALLICA bandmates have begun working on the follow-up to 2016’s “Hardwired To Self-Destruct” album while in quarantine. A year earlier, Hammett said that he had already accumulated “a lot” of “kick-ass, great” ideas for METALLICA‘s next LP.
The METALLICA axeman famously lost his iPhone containing hundreds of riffs in 2014. About six months later, he told “The Jasta Show” podcast that he “was crushed” when it happened, but still expressed hope that it “might turn up.”
Hammett is not credited on any of the songs on “HardwiredTo Self-Destruct”.
He previously said that losing his phone was a “devastating” experience.
Despite the setback, Hammett said that he was pleased with how “Hardwired…To Self-Destruct” turned out.
“Hardwired To Self-Destruct” debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 album chart, selling 291,000 copies in its first week of release.

Hammett’s horror exhibit, Its Alive! Classic Horror And Sci-Fi Art From The Kirk Hammett Collection, is showing now at Toronto’s Royal Ontario Museum. The exhibit will run from through January 5, 2020.

Ever since he was five or six years old, Kirk Hammett has had an obsession with horror movies, reports Joe Smith-Engelhardt of Exclaim!. His collection of movie posters, props and collectables started small but grew into one of the world’s most prominent archives of the movie genre’s history as he gained fame with his band – and now, he’s bringing his massive collection to Toronto’s Royal Ontario Museum, with an exhibit called It’s Alive! Classic Horror and Sci-Fi Art from the Kirk Hammett Collection.
Public interest in Hammett’s collection grew during Metallica’s Orion Music + More Festival, at which he hosted a small exhibit and led panel discussions with legends of the genre. The vast scope of his collection was put on full display for the first time last year at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts, and it’s now at the ROM, which started on July 13, 2019.

Side projects have long been taboo in the world of Metallica.
Bassist Jason Newsted was famously ousted from the Bay Area hard rock band after he became involved in the power-pop trio Echobrain, less than a decade after appearing on Metallicas career-defining 1991 self-titled fifth album, known as The Black Album, which sold 30 million copies worldwide.
Over its four-decade run, members of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame group have avoided performing individually with other musicians or allowing any extracurricular activities to disturb their united front except on extremely rare occasions. So its little wonder that longtime guitarist Kirk Hammett was reluctant to tell his Metallica bandmates about working on his debut solo recording, Portals, which comes out on April 23.
Hell yeah, I was really nervous about it, he admitted to The Chronicle. Those are my bros. When I got the idea, I didnt know how to let the band know, considering the history of that kind of stuff with the band. Surprisingly, everyone got behind it.
Not only did they support the idea, but the other band members singer James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich, along with bassist Robert Trujillo even suggested that Hammett release the four-song instrumental EP on Metallicas Blackened Recordings.
They were like, Lets put it out as soon as we can, Hammett, a San Francisco native, recalled. I didnt expect it to be that easy.

Metallica kicked off their first of two livestreamed 40th-anniversary concerts at San Francisco’s Chase Center on December 17th to a sold-out crowd in their hometown.
