How Much Do Weddings Cost In The Covid

For many betrothed couples, weddings will look very different in 2020 — and perhaps beyond — due to COVID-19.

With most states imposing limits on the number of people attending gatherings and with coronavirus continuing to spread, lavish affairs are being replaced with alternatives, including these three options:

  • Shift weddings still involve a large guest list, but guests attend at appointed times
  • Microweddings are typically small gatherings with under 50 guests. Most couples plan a larger reception at a later point.
  • Minimonies normally involve 10 or fewer guests, mostly including close family members.

While shift weddings will likely retain the high average cost of more traditional affairs, microweddings and minimonies come with much smaller price tags.

In fact, one venue that normally charges approximately $30,000 for a standard wedding with 300 guests has indicated microweddings cost an estimated $2,750 for up to 30 guests or $4,500 for up to 50 guests.

Traditional Wedding Vs Destination Wedding Cost Breakdown

One of the most often asked topics at Destify is how much a destination wedding costs on average versus a local wedding. Most people believe that combining travel and wedding costs in an exotic place will cost a fortune, but this is not the case!

We compared the expenses of over 100 of our destination weddings to the costs of a local wedding and found that the vast majority saved significantly. The number of guests attending and the location of the wedding are the two most important aspects that influence the cost of a destination wedding. A decent rule of thumb for your destination wedding budget is to expect roughly half of your guests to show up for your wedding, which is usually significantly greater for hometown weddings.

Mexico, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic are our most popular destinations. Weve chosen Mexico as our example destination since it has a large number of all-inclusive resorts and the magnificent beaches that our consumers anticipate. With an average flight time of 5 hours from many major U.S. cities, it is also the most accessible destination we offer in terms of travel.

Type Of Wedding Planners

Wedding planners have the training and experience to ensure that your wedding is a memorable event for all the right reasons. They can also save you money by getting discounted rates on wedding services due to their relationships with wedding vendors. Their wedding planning experience may also help you avoid costly pitfalls that amateur planners may not know about.

There are different types of wedding planning services that you may choose depending on your budget and requirements. Its best to review your budget and needs before starting your wedding planner search.

A full-service planner will arrange all the details of your wedding. Partial wedding planners will oversee certain aspects of your wedding such as the venue or catering. You would have to manage all the other aspects of the wedding.

Partial wedding planners cost less than full-service event planners. So it is a good idea to hire them if you have a limited budget and only need help with certain planning activities.

Certain wedding venues also provide an in-house wedding planner at no cost. This type of planner would only oversee details related to your wedding venue. They may make suggestions on other aspects of your wedding and suggest vendors that you should hire. But their scope covers services provided by the venue.

What Are The Types Of Wedding Planners The Difference Between A Planner And Coordinator

Many ladies have dreamt of their wedding day since they were old enough to know what a wedding is. Meanwhile, some others have expressed gross indifference to wedding ceremonies. Another perspective in wedding planning is when the couples parents get too excited and want to take charge of planning the event. Anyway, whether you are a pro D.I.Y couple or not, it is unwise to spend money on the wedding planner cost without proper evaluation of the type of planner you need.

The Cost Of A Planner Varies Based On The Services You Get And Where You Live

There isn’t a set cost for every wedding planner. Indeed, cost varies from planner to planner, though location and type of service help determine the price.

The national average cost of a wedding planner was $1,500 in 2019, according to a study conducted by The Knot, but where you live and how much help you want will determine the cost. The more you want a planner to handle, the more expensive it will be.

“For full service, you can expect a minimum charge of around $5,000, but that tends to go up depending on size and scope,” she said. “Often full-service rates will be calculated based on a percentage usually 20% of your wedding budget.”

If you’re just paying for a wedding month or day-of coordinator, the cost will be more like $1,800 to $2,000, according to Monus. And many planners will offer something in between and allow couples to customize the services so it fits their needs.

“I’ve developed a middle-range service that I call Wedding Consulting that offers a set amount of consulting or planning hours and wedding management my most popular offering for $2,800 with an option to add on consulting or planning time if needed,” Monus said.

Planning a wedding is a daunting task that can take up hundreds of hours of your time. The final decision rests in knowing your own strengths and weaknesses, as well as your partners. If planning, organizing and delegating are your bread and butter, perhaps you could forgo the planner altogether. Or bring in a part-timer or coordinator to help you out in the final stretch.

Your Wedding Coordinator Will Not Clean Your Reception Venue

Day of Wedding Coordination: What is a Day of Wedding Coordinator and How much do they cost?

Clean up after a wedding can be designated to a variety of individuals. The venue themselves will have a fair amount of responsibilities after an event and what they handle internally as well as what they expect clients to have taken care of by other professionals or friends and family will vary by venue and is always spelled out in your venue contract. Major event strike items like breaking down chairs and tables or sweeping/mopping are never a coordinator’s responsibility and generally fall under the responsibility of the venue staff. However, some venues, in an effort to be more budget friendly, state in their contract that these tasks are the responsibility of the client – in which case they will either offer an option to have their staff provide these services for a small additional fee or expect you to delegate someone to take care of the tasks.
