How Many Registries For Wedding

Modern Couple Wedding Registries

Tips: Make the Best Wedding Registry

Modern couples have been living together for some time when they get engaged, so they’re not starting from scratch like traditional couples. However, they too need wedding registry ideas, and they need to know how many places to register for their wedding.

For modern couples who have settled in together, one or two registries is best, depending again on the size of the wedding and what the couple needs. Some couples who are older and have been together for a while might have more established homes than two recent college grads, so their registries would look different.

It can be difficult to generate wedding registry ideas when you’ve been living together, but the key is to identify what needs to be either replaced or upgraded. For example, how old are your pots and pans? What about your bathroom towels or bed sheets? These items make great wedding registry ideas because they’re readily available at just about any store you choose to register, and they come in a variety of price points. You don’t have to ask for the most expensive towel set, but you can still ask for a better quality that will last you a long time.

When choosing how many places to register for your wedding, look for stores that offer better quality products and plenty of shopping options. Some stores will offer the couple discounts for any items not purchased on their registry, so keep that in mind when choosing stores.

Honeymoon funds can be better for modern couples because:

Assess Your Needs And Wants

Are you a young couple whos never had your own place before? Are you digital nomads that work from home? Are you wanting to get funding for your honeymoon more than traditional gifts? In addition to the big questions, then youll want to take stock of what you need. Go into as much or as little detail as you want here. For example, if youre looking for new towel sets, do you think three will be enough per person? Would you want both face and hand towels to match?

In addition to what you think you need, keep in mind how much you think you need of any one item.

Areas to Consider When Making Your Wedding Registry List

  • Kitchen and Dining
  • Honeymoon

Quick Tips for Registering

  • Register for more gifts than you have wedding guests. A total of 2-3 gifts per guest as a good rule of thumb.
  • Make sure your items come in a wide range of pricing. Dont be afraid to register for expensive items, just be sure you include a variety.

Look at other couples registries to see if there is anything you arent thinking of and consider asking friends and family that have already been married.

How Soon Should You Register

Its understandable to feel a little uncomfortable when asking for gifts. Weve discovered that some find its the most fun part of the wedding process. The good news? You can start as early as you want to! Most online registries give you the option to password protect or keep your registry private until you are ready to share it. That way, you can have time to build a registry of gifts you need versus just rushing through it. Either way works it just depends onyou guessed ittiming.

Give yourself enough time to decide what gifts you want and to plan. We recommend doing this at least four to six months before the wedding. The sooner you have your registry set up, the longer your guests have to get you the gifts you want. Think about Uncle Henry, who may not be able to make it to the wedding, but wants to send you an advantage in time for the big day. Appropriate notice and planning arent just considerate its important for guests, too.

How Many Items Should We Register Wedding Registry

Hi there! I am wondering how many items my fiancé and I should register for. We plan on having 120-140 guests attending our wedding. About 150 will be invited. We are making our registry public and sharing our wedding website on Facebook. Right now we have registered for 42 items on Target.com. We have maybe 2 or 3 items above & dollar 100. I heard from a friend that I should register for at least 100 items due to the size of our guest list… is that right? I don’t want to look greedy or something! But she also said it would be frustrating if we ran out of items on our list for people to purchase and also this will be used at the bridal shower. Help! What did your situation look like?

Mistake : Not Putting Your Registry On Your Wedding Website

The best way to share your registry with guests is through your wedding website. Traditional etiquette indicates that its not required for guests to give a gift, so its best not to share registry information on formal wedding invitations. You can, however, include registry details on an insert in your save-the-dates. Since your wedding website is a hub for important information, its the best way to share gift information with guests.

The History Behind Your Wedding Registry

Wedding gifts have been around as long as weddings themselves, but wedding registries have a unique origin thats not as old as you may think. Its reported that in the 1920s Marshall Fields created the first wedding registry as we know it with other stores quickly following the marketing idea. In the 1930s the depression hit and the number of marriages dropped, but in the 40s with the world at war, marriages began to skyrocket, especially for young folks. According to experts, from the late 40s to the mid-70s the average couple getting married was in their early twenties. This meant that they needed a whole list of basic household supplies to start their home together, including dishes, appliances, etc.

Flash forward to today when many couples getting married are a little older than that and have been living independently. While some couples still register for those much-needed household items or upgrades, they are now adding some non-traditional elements. These include charitable giving, honeymoon funds and even new house payment contributions for those getting a new home. One of the biggest changes is from items to experiences like trips, tours, concerts and more.

From the ever-popular Kitchenaid mixer to that electric bike youve had your eye on, your wedding registry can be as unique as you need it to be.

I’ve registered at Target and Bed Bath and Beyond. I also did Crate & Barrel online.. We don’t have one within hours of us, but a lot of FS’s family likes to do their shopping online, and a lot of my OOT guests live near one. I wanted to add one more store but I feel like 4 registries is pushing it.. What do you think? How many is TOO many?

Traditional Couple Wedding Registries

Traditional couples come from all backgrounds and love stories, and they may have all different types and sizes of weddings. But they have one thing in common: they’ve never lived together before. That means they’re starting from scratch when they move in together.

To answer the question of how many places to register for a wedding, the traditional couple should aim for three to four registries, depending on the size of the wedding. A wedding of less than 150 guests could work with three registries while any more and four is likely better. And when you have such a big wedding, it’s better to get started on your wedding registry ideas right after you get engaged no need to wait.

When choosing how many places to register for your wedding, look at stores that offer a wide variety of home goods with in-store and online options. Some people like to shop in person while others prefer online. Give both guests the option.

Many stores like Bed, Bath and Beyond and Crate & Barrel have checklists for wedding registry ideas, and they’re great for keeping yourself on track with everything traditional couples need for their homes. After all, you don’t want to set up your shower curtain after the wedding and then realize that you never asked for shower curtain rings. Follow these lists, but don’t feel like you need to put every little thing on your registry.

As you start setting up your wedding registry, keep these tips in mind:

The Right Way To Share Your Wedding Registry

Some sort of registry is a must for every engaged couple, whether you want to go the traditional route or shake it up with a honeymoon, experiential, or hobby-based version. But after you add all the gifts to your wedding wishlist, how are you supposed to spread the news to your nearest and dearest without seeming too, well, greedy? Like most wedding-related matters, the answer to this question comes with its own set of rules and etiquette. But with our little list of dos and donts, sharing your registry will be a piece of cake.

Do include information on your bridal shower invitations. Chances are, youre not throwing your own shower, so having if the host adds a link or note to the invitation, its totally fine. While a bride or groom asking for gifts directly can be taken as a little rude, your mom, aunt, or bestie can feel free to spread the word on your behalf. And, because bridal showers are actually all about the gift giving anyway , guests will want and need to know what youd like to receive.

Do put your wedding website on your save the date. While you dont necessarily have to say, Hey, were registered at Target! on the save the date, the announcement can be a good way to spread the word about your website. Everyone invited to the wedding will get that info and be able to figure out the details for themselves if they want to buy you something in honor of your nuptials.

Personal For You Gifts

The wedding gifts really should be about people in the marriage and so when there is a registry that is filled with gifts that look like they are just for one partner it seems a bit off. The best thing to do is have a well-balanced registry with items for you as a couple and of course a limited amount of things that are just for one of you.
