Along the same lines as the overall “time myth,” many brides worry that they’ll be indecisive when it comes to picking a dress, or that they’ll simply need plenty of time to ensure that the dress is truly the dress.
To many brides, the wedding dress is one ofif not themost important aspects of the entire wedding. Little girls dream of silk couture and grow up with the resilience and determination to search high and low until they find the perfect dress.
There are two important distinctions to make here. The first is to consider exactly how long it will take to have the dress made . The second is how long it will take you to actually find the dress.
The first part of this equation is fairly straightforward, and most bridal salons stick with this same general principle: Anything inside of the six-month mark is considered a “rush” order. When I walked into Kleinfeld’s in New York to find my dress, my intake sheet was already stamped with the red rush stamp of doomand the six-month mark had only passed a week prior to my appointment. The professionals take it seriously, but they will work with you. Keep that in mind.

Being engaged is all about commitment, right? I know I run the risk of getting some push-back here, but stay with me because I think that my point is an important one to make.

No, of course not. However, every single wedding dress on order with the designer will be made to order. This means the colour, pattern and size will be unique. The manufacturers are therefor managing a very large order book, and they work through one order at a time. So yours gets placed into the queue and created in that order.

Sample Sale Season Is A Great Time To Purchase Your Wedding Gown
Weddings are expensive . So, in order to potentially save some money, you may want to take an opportunity to look at some wedding dress sample sales. Many bridal retailers in major cities present two sample sales per year, most commonly in the summer and around January in the early winter.
Wedding stores are trying clear out last seasons inventory to replace it with the new fashion for the upcoming year. You can potentially score your dream gown for up to 90% off!
If you plan to attend one of these sample sales, do some research on the wedding retailers you want to check out, for some may have specific sale dates and appointment requirements. Although this seems like the ultimate way to go, here are some things to be mindful of.
Most of these sample sales are typically final sale, often have little to no sales associates to help you, and tend to be very crowded.
Also, make sure you figure out the correct size for wedding dresses. They tend to be slightly different than normal clothing sizes from the department store.
This is on a first come first serve basis, so be prepared with certain designers or styles of dress in mind. If you find your dream gown, great! Just know that all of these purchases are nonrefundable.
Do You Have Plus Size Samples
Of course! We do our best to accommodate as many beautiful body types as possible with our sample dresses. For this reason, the majority of our samples are sizes 8, 10 and 12 and all stores have a selection of sample gowns in size 14-20. Since our samples will not be an exact fit for most, we use clips for dresses that are too big on the body, and pins and modesty panels for dresses that are on the small side. This will give you give you the vision of how our dresses will fit when they are tailored to you. Once ordered your gown will arrive in 14 to 16 weeks. A wedding gown is not made until you place your order with your measurements. We suggest allowing at least one month for alterations. Since all gowns are ordered specifically for you, we do not refund or exchange any order once a deposit has been placed for a gown at the shop. 3. How long does it take to order Bridesmaid dresses? Your bridesmaids are welcome to come into our salon for measurements to order their dresses or if they are out of town most salons will measure for free. At this fitting, you may want to bring your MOH or another bridesmaid who will be in charge of the bustle on the wedding day. She can get a tutorial on bustling and may even practice, if needed.
