Interesting facts:

In 1944 the Province of Ontario and the University of Toronto Faculty of Forestry entered into a partnership to educate government personnel and university students. For many years the site was known as the Ranger School and later, the Ontario Forest Technical Training School. Many courses were taught to government personnel. Students from various faculties at the University came to the school each year on field trips.

In 1969, the schools curriculum of resource management was taken over by Ontarios colleges and universities. That was the first time the future of the property that would become the Frost Centre, was in doubt. In 1974, Ontario Premiere William G. Davis announced that the facility would be developed as a demonstration area in resources management, education and recreation and would be called The Leslie M. Frost Natural Resources Centre. The Centre became the first outdoor education Centre in the province dedicated to environmental and resource management education. It was also the first Centre to have a large crown land management unit , associated with it for research in and demonstration of resource management, recreation and public education.

The winter came early this November, but this beautiful Chicago wedding snuck right in between the two days of wintery weather. Despite the cold weather, everything about this two-day wedding celebration was so warm. The families on both sides were both so supportive. Everyone was full of love and kindness, making it a pleasure to photograph this wedding. It was a traditional Indian wedding, to honor Dijitas heritage. The groom and his family were enjoying themselves and fully embraced the Indian culture and all its beautiful traditions.

The two days of Indian wedding events began with the Sangeet on Friday evening. The Sangeet was full of joy, color, and amazing Indian dancing. Everyones jewelry and clothing were so bright and colorful! On Saturday, the day began with the Baraatthe vibrant, musical, pre-ceremony grooms processional. It was certainly a fun part of the day, filled with smiles from all! When the Baraat reached the venue entrance, the mother of the bride performed a small ceremony called a Puja. When the Puja concluded, the wedding ceremony began. The priest performed the whole ceremony in another language, and while I didnt understand, it was so clear that the ceremony was full of happiness. After the Hindu ceremony, they incorporated one small African American cultural piece to honor the grooms heritage and together they jumped the broom.

South Shore Cultural Center Wedding Photos: Rachel & Nish

Rachel and Nishs wedding at South Shore Cultural Center was the first time this season that Ive shot on Chicagos South Side. While they live in Milwaukee now they welcomed friends and family from all over the world so it was truly a Chicago destination wedding. Ive been looking forward to Rachel and Nishs South Shore Cultural Center Wedding photos since their Millennium Park Engagement Session last fall.

Justin flew in from Denver again to help me document the day. He started with Nish and the groomsmen while I was with Rachel and the ladies in their suite at the Sheraton Grand Hotel. Ive shot both grooms and brides getting ready at the Sheraton Grand Hotel and its always a pleasure. The rooms are nice and large and filled with beautiful window light.

As soon as Rachel was in the dress we headed down to meet Nish for a first look with the Chicago Skyline in the background. From there we headed down the Riverwalk toward Michigan Avenue for portraits. We stopped several places along the way including the Wrigley Building and the plaza just to the west. After making some epic lit portraits it was time to head to the South Shore Cultural Center for the ceremony. The ceremony was in the Solarium with huge windows overlooking Lake Michigan its a stunning view. Rachel and Nishs friend John officiated and did a great job. The ceremony went quick, but Justin and I still found some great moments.

South Shore Cultural Center Wedding : Marcy And Todd

Marcy and Todd had a lovely summer wedding at the South Shore Cultural Center. With busy schedules, I was able to meet Marcy only once during our initial consultation, and I wasnt able to meet Todd at all. Luckily for me, they were fantastic to work with, and I was excited to be able to be a part of their wedding day! Since no one comes here to read my writing, so lets get to the photos!

I started out my day with the girls as they were putting the finishing touches on their hair and makeup.

After she was dressed and ready, we had our first look just outside the building on the grounds of the South Shore Cultural Center.

We spent some time doing portraits and wedding party photos:

Afterwards, we headed back inside for the ketubah signing

followed by the wedding ceremony!

The ceremony was held in the Solarium, which looked lovely.

Afterwards, everyone relaxed at cocktail hour before heading in for dinner and the reception.

Some cake smashing fun:

The South Shore Cultural Center, in Chicago, Illinois, is a cultural facility located at 71st Street and South Shore Drive, in the city’s South Shore neighborhood. It encompasses the grounds of the former South Shore Country Club.

The South Shore Country Club was founded in 1905 as a suburban counterpart to the urban clubs of Chicago, such as the Athletic Club. The original building was built at that time, designed by architects in a Mediterranean Revival style. In 1909, a theater was added, but in 1916, Marshall and Fox were engaged to design a newer building, still in the Mediterranean Revival style. This is the building that still stands. Originally built as a Protestant-only club, later, Irish-Catholics were admitted.

Besides the main clubhouse, the Country Club also had stables, a nine-hole golf course, tennis courts, a bowling green, and a private beach on Lake Michigan.

It was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

A coalition of neighborhood activists and historic preservationists successfully convinced the Park District not to demolish the buildings. Instead, the facility was renamed the South Shore Cultural Center. Over two decades, the main buildings were slowly renovated and repurposed. Other buildings were torn down.

We were so excited to have the opportunity to travel to Chicago to help Jovana and Thomas on their special day! Jovana and Thomas were married in the beautiful South Shore Cultural Center surrounded by their loving friends and family. With the beautiful waterfront as the backdrop to their ceremony, Jovana and Thomas let their personalities shine as they exchanged their vows.

This is La Bella Planners first wedding in Chicago so we had so much fun finding new vendors to work with. Dolores from Luminous Blooms created stunning floral designs from the bouquets to the garland running down the aisle. The beautiful Kings Table design was made possible by BBJ Linens and Chicago Vintage Weddings. Food For Thought kept all of the guests happy with their delicious food throughout the night. The brides beauty was enhanced by Lakia and Stylisted.

Megan from Lemon Twist Images did an amazing job capturing all of the best moments from this wedding and we have gathered our favorites for you to enjoy!
