Some County Venues Anticipate An Active Wedding Season

A recent wedding at Sandy Knoll County Park in West Bend. It is one of the three county park locations with a few dates still available for weddings this summer, according to Krystal Wangerin, parks business services manager. She said the other two sites are fully booked for 2021.

WASHINGTON COUNTY Signs are pointing to a busy season of events, as some wedding venues in Washington County are having increased bookings.

Were pretty much at two weddings a week now, from May through October, said Johan Johanson, owner of The Gardens Wedding Center in Allenton.

Last year, 40 percent of the businesss weddings were moved to 2021, according to Johanson, who said a few additional weddings this year have extended out again.

Overall, though, business is returning to normal rates.

We are seeing more bookings and tours than in the past, Johanson said. The comfort level of the universe seems to be improving.

He said sizes of weddings at the Allenton location have also been readjusting. Last year, guest counts were often in the 25- to 50-person range and this year are frequently back to 100 to 150 guests per wedding.

Krystal Wangerin, parks business services manager, said wedding planning activity has picked up at all three sites.

A Winter Wedding Of Brandon & Marisa At Glacier Hills County Park

Brandon & Marisas wedding took place a few weeks prior to the quarantine order in Wisconsin due to COVID-19.

I met Marisa & Brandon in August of last year. The couples where very nice, laid back and pleasant. Marisa talked about how close she is to her family and friends and how important are family pictures to her. She also wanted me to make sure to capture lots of pictures of her friends during reception time.

Getting ready took place at Christ Lutheran Church in Pewaukee. The bridal party and the couples made a stop at Craft Beer Cellar for a drink before continuing to Glacier Hills County Park.

Brandon & Marisas wedding was a collaboration of family & friends effort. They all stepped in to help with turning the reception place into a beautiful place. Marisas friend was assigned the responsibility of the wedding planner: she was making sure that everything is running as planned and on time.

I am so excited to be sharing all about Ryan and Lexis Glacier Hills County Park wedding in Hubertus here on my blog. I have looked forward to this wedding ever since my first chat with them! And then after I met these two last fall for their engagement session, I just knew that it was going to be amazing. And I was totally right!! We had the best time, hiking around Glacier Hills and enjoying the beautiful summer weather.

And let me just say this BBQ is the best BBQ I have eaten since moving to Wisconsin. It reminded me so much of the good stuff in the south, and I absolutely without a doubt recommend The Fatty Shack for BBQ in Wisconsin!

Wedding At Glacier Hills County Park

Courtney & Devin were married in the September of 2019 at Glacier Hills County Park. The weather we had that day was some of the best weather Wisconsin could give. Exactly the weather that every September bride is trying to have haha! While the sun slowly fell behind the trees, Courtney & Devin exchanged their vows & rings and a well-place joke or two. Throughout the whole day these two were brilliant together. Courtney has this bright, fun sense of humor which blends well with Devins and his easy-going temperament. I loved watching how they embraced every part of their wedding day and were so present during every little & big moment.

A few of my favorite moments from their day were Courtney calmly sipping her Truly in her bra & veil through a party bus mixup, Devins dad jokingly showing off his hunter-orange wedding vest for Devins approval , Courtneys clever little party favors for her guests who might indulge themselves a squeak too much , a hug between husband & wife so tight that we thought a button popped off , Devins groomsmans hilarious speech incorporating huge cut-outs of Devin & his hairstyle phases, and the wild grand entrance of some of the bridal party members on scooters! There are lots more, but instead of rambling on Ill share some of my favorite images from their wedding at Glacier Hills!

Amanda & Jasons Spring Wedding at Glacier Hills County Park, Hubertus, Wisconsin

We had the immense honor of photographing Amanda & Jasons Spring wedding at Glacier Hills County Park. I was so impressed with this lovely wedding location a sweet rustic chapel, a lovely reception hall, gorgeous views, rolling hills, and an enchanting forest! What more could we ask for?? Did I mention that the weather was PERFECT!!?? A BLUE SKY day!! Amanda & Jason are equestrian trainers and love animals, and Amandas sweet dog was a part of their day. We love when pets get to join us in the celebration. While we would have loved to have had their horses join us, it was just more than we could do on one day but stay tuned we are doing a post wedding shoot with their horses later this summer.

They brought a country western flair into their day with little touches here and their and we especially loved the horse shoes used in their decor. We were taken with the florals stunning spring blooms were incorporated in Amandas breathtaking bouquet by The Gardens Desgin by Nicole. There is so much more I could say about this wonderful wedding day, but Ill let you see for yourself

Glacier Hills Park Wedding // Allison + Wendy

To us, there’s nothing more romantic than exchanging vows and kissing in the rain – that’s the stuff movies are made of! Allison and Wendy were fortunate enough to get beautiful rain on their wedding day at Glacier Hills County Park and they fully embraced the magic.

They had their first look when it was just starting to lightly rain outside. They met in the forest, each walking from one side of the path to meet in the middle. It started raining harder after that but these two were determined to get married outside and enjoy their day regardless. They both walked down the aisle with umbrellas, exchanged vows and rings, and had their first dance in the rain. The water running off their noses and dresses made for easily our favorite first dances of all time.

After the ceremony the four of us went for a walk in the woods, taking photos along the way. Then it was time for pizza by the amazing Ian’s Pizza. They even made Jay and me a special dairy-free pizza that tasted just like the real thing.

At the end of the night, Wendy asked for one more photo down the road. When we got there it was perfect. There was mist from the rain and so, of course, Jay and I had some fun with backlight flash.

Thank you so much to Allison and Wendy for being amazing, making us feel so welcome, and for focusing on what truly matters at your wedding – love and have a great time with your favorite person no matter what.

Sneak Peek: Connor + Mari’s Glacier Hill County Park Wedding

Sneak Peek: Connor + Mari’s Glacier Hill County Park wedding was a wild ride! After setting everything up for an outdoor wedding – they had to adjust when a big rainstorm showed up! Mari and Connor only smiled at the rain and didnt let it take away from their wedding day joy! Mari

The little chapel the wedding moved to was full of laughter and love as Mari and Connor declared their promises – their wedding was authentic and sacred and super fun too! They, and their wedding party, were litterally up for every suggestion I threw at them which made the photography delightful!

One of my favorite parts of their wedding day was sneaking out of the reception with them to take some golden hour photos in a nearby grove of trees. At one point, filled with joy, Mari took off running up the trail barefoot and spinning in her wedding dress – She was clearly in her element and loving every second of it and Connor ran right after her!

Connor and Mari are wonderful humans – I wish them all the love and joy for years to come! #McCallToAdventure

Glacier Hills County Park

An excellent example of a glacier moraine with rugged terrain, wooded trails and picturesque views of Holy Hill. Glacier Hills County Park, originally developed as St. Amelians Orphanage Youth Camp, became a Washington County Park in 1976. The park consists of 140 acres of land and includes approximately 1200 feet of frontage on Friess Lake. The park is excellent for bird watching and features rustic cabins, picnic areas, hiking trails, snowmobile trail access, fishing, sledding hill, play fields, basketball court, play equipment, sand volleyball & a swimming area.

A large wedding hall and chapel are also onsite for those looking to get married in this gorgeous park in the heart of the Kettle Moraine.

Overnight guest have the option of renting the former ranger house through VRBO which has a full kitchen, living room, 1.5 baths, and 4 bedrooms. Or stay in one of the newly renovated lakefront rustic cabins as of this year, which were originally built back in the 1920s. These rustic cabins give a whole new name to the glamping game for a weekend getaway with friends and family!
