Can You Wear A Blue Suit Blue Shirt And Green Tie

Avoid wearing blue suits and green ties with blue shirts. A white shirt would be a much more subtle and versatile option here.

While a light blue shirt wouldnt be the worst option here, a white shirt would be more understated and produce a more elegant and sophisticated finish to the suit and tie combination.

Why Choose A Blue Suit

Pin on Wedding Outfit

Blue can be a challenging choice, and it takes a level of courage to pull it off.

Although black suits have always epitomized the ultimate, classic look for men in the past, the trend changed. Blue is synonymous with versatility and could definitely prove to be the new black.

But blue projects confidence and daring. And Im not talking about navy here. Im talking about true blue as a clear sky.

In fact, a navy suit is almost as safe a bet as classic black and is a reliable option at any event.

A blue suit can be dressed down or up, according to the season and time of day. Whats more, the color cries out to be united with a wide variety of other color combos, including other shades of blue.

Navy Suit + Neutral Tie

Example: Navy Suit + Slate Grey Tie

The combination of a navy suit and a neutral tie is either the second most formal option if it isnt equally as formal.

The true neutral colors are blacks, whites, and greys.

There are other colors that are considered neutrals when it comes to mens style but arent true neutrals. These include olive green, khaki brown, and yes navy blue.

While they may not be true neutrals, its helpful to think of them as neutral simply because theyre muted and understated enough to pair easily with other colors.

Here, however, well stick to talking about blacks, whites, and greys to keep things simple.

The example above is of a navy suit and a slate grey tie. Grey is neutral and muted enough to combine with practically any suit color you can think of.

Pairing it with a navy blue is a piece of cake.

But you could also easily pair the navy blue suit with a black tie for this very reason. The trouble with this is that black isnt a very wedding-friendly color as it doesnt have the most celebratory feel to it.

Grey is definitely a better alternative.

To sum this up, the lack of contrast youd get from combining a navy suit with an under-the-radar neutral like grey is also a formal-looking option to consider.

Blue Suit With A Red Tie

Red is a classic tie color to wear with a blue suit. The two colors create a lot of contrast, making you look bold.

A red tie looks best with a blue suit when you wear a white shirt. It provides a crisp look and clean background for the tie.

Red ties also symbolize wealth, power, authority, and passion. When you wear one, you mean business.

The Best Ties To Wear To Weddings

It’s always a dilemma working out the best tie to wear to a wedding. More often than not, it will depend on the season, the location as well as the suit you’re wearing it with but if we know one thing’s for sure ties are essential for weddings.

Whether you’re attending a relaxed coastal wedding on the beaches of Bali, or you’re living it up at a lavish French chateau, this article will take you through all the best ties to wear to a wedding.

Traditionally, weddings were generally attended with silk and satin ties due to their formal sheen and more “sleek” appearance. But as wedding ceremonies have changed and become drastically more varied over the years, as has the institution of wedding ties overall. Now, you’re going to be looking at linens and cottons if you want to make a modern statement but of course, it all depends on the setting.

Blue Suit With A Black Shirt And A Blue Tie

If the black tie was making a statement, the blue tie in your blue suit/black shirt combination works well as a bridge. It is one of those ensembles where you can match your tie extremely close to your suits color.

The black shirt acts as an almost invisible backdrop for the tie, giving your outfit a balanced look. Keep the ties texture in line with the material of your suit.

Personally, I would never wear brown shoes with a black shirt. Id feel much more comfortable with thin-soled black leather with a belt to match.

But this is not a hard and fast rule. It all depends on the occasion and your mood.

Tips On Color Matching

Ive worked with some gentlemen in the past that sometimes would prefer to wear a full navy suit, a light blue dress shirt, and a solid navy tie they consider this to look a little bit more clean and refined. Although the navy tie offers a nice contrast to the white or light blue dress shirt, this is actually not the best choice, as a navy tie will clash with the navy of the suit, looking nearly the same but not exactly so. To best counteract this, always choose a tie that offers some contrast to the suit. You could try a light pink, or even something in yellow or green. Lighter or pastel colors will offer you the opportunity to have contrast with the suit but not clash with the overall outfit.

And whether a three-piece, featuring jacket, waistcoat and suit trouser, or a two-piece without the waistcoat, the wedding blue suit is timeless. But you shouldnt feel bound to conformity, as there are many options for accessorising that will help you create a unique look. By considering the colour of shirt, tie, suit shoes and pocket square, you can achieve distinct mood with your blue wedding suit.

Tie The tie provides the perfect opportunity for you to create the right colour palette for a range of wedding settings and themes. For summer weddings, a gold or yellow tie can help you achieve the quintessential wedding look, while pinks and shades of red are also traditional options. If youre seeking to create a more contemporary outfit, consider a black tie. Paired with black formal shoes, a black tie can help you craft a sharp, modern look especially if your suit is tailored or slim fit. Blue Suit With A White Shirt And A Brown Tie

At first glance, brown is not an obvious choice to go with a blue suit. But you can consider brown as basically a very dark version of orange.

So as orange is a complementary color to blue, the combination starts to make a lot of sense.

Brown ties lend themselves to wool and cashmere. Or even cotton, depending on the formality of the occasion.

Brown shoes are an obvious choice here, as is the belt, which should always be leather.

Details matter. And there are a lot of matching accessories to choose from. The list stretches from shoes and pocket squares up to shirts and ties.

It is where your blue suit excels from other suit colors. Think of it as the canvas to which you, as the artist, can add sweeping strokes with the combo and accessories brush.

Almost any color will complement your blue foundation. White shirts are always a winner. But black, pink, and red all work well, to name just a few.

Add a contrasting tie, brown or black shoes with a matching belt, and youre guaranteed to be turning heads at your next event.

To be clear, Im not condoning wild, free-for-all color choices here. True, the real beauty of a blue suit is that its so darn versatile. But that doesnt mean you can throw everything together in a haphazard frenzy.

To a greater or lesser extent, colors need to fit together, or they should create an impact through measured contrast.

Texture matters too. A thin wool tie on a silk dress shirt just wont work, regardless of whether the colors match.

Finally, add some style to your look by choosing the right watch that will match your suit. And away you go!

Again, youre working with similar shades, so the same tips apply.

A wide, white polka dot navy tie of silk or satin will draw admiring glances. But a thin, red striped woolen tie will work too.

Keep your suit and shirt shades of blue tight, and wear black leather shoes and a belt.

The result is a sleek look that can be interpreted as professional competence or cool confidence. Or even both.

    Navy Suit + Complimentary Tie

Complementary colors are those which sit opposite from each other on the color wheel.

If you want to produce as much contrast as possible between your suit and your tie, choose complementary colors.

As youll see from the color wheel, blues lie opposite from oranges.

Pairing our navy suit with a tie in an orange shade will produce a bold and striking combination.

As a result, youll want to be careful with it when attending a wedding drawing attention is something to avoid.

But if its a daytime wedding with a pretty casual vibe to it, a navy suit with an orange tie could make for a fun and eye-catching combination.

Avoid it when attending more formal and traditional weddings, however. Stick to a monochromatic, neutral, or cool-colored tie instead.
