The Madison Hotel’s upcoming ballroom renovations have upset some couples who have booked the venue for their wedding. Left, is the current gold-colored decor, and to the right is a rendition of the planned renovation with dark walls and blue carpet.

A popular wedding venue took to social media earlier this month to announce the exciting news that it would be remodeling its ballroom.

The spacious room at The Madison Hotel in Morristown, which featured a gold and white color scheme, was going to debut in early 2023 with black- or dark gray-painted walls and a blue carpet, according to by the hotel on Instagram and Facebook.

But for some brides and grooms who had booked the space months ago, the news was less than exciting

We booked the Ballroom for its gorgeous gold accents, more neutral tones, and loved the aesthetic when we saw it in person,

Please say this is a jokeno one mentioned black walls when I booked my wedding, another bride said of the new color scheme.

Many of the brides and grooms, who had already signed contracts for tens of thousands of dollars, said they first learned about the changes through the social media posts.

The brides and grooms asked NJ Advance Media to withhold their names because they feared retribution from the venue and its staff.

They argued theyre no longer getting what they expected when they signed their contracts.
