Best Professional Indian Wedding Photography

The Indian culture values professional photography more than many others. So we realize how important wedding photography is when we cover Indian weddings. In addition, it’s a given that we need to capture amazing images of the happy couple, but with Indian weddings, there is even more at stake. Check out the above gallery images and you will how many other aspects of Indian celebrations that need to be photographed. The decor is incredible so it makes beautiful detail shots even more important. Also the fact that many rituals are included in the typical Indian wedding ceremony so this needs to be a huge priority. We love the fun activities that occur at Bay Area Indian weddings whether it is skits put on by family and the wedding party or fun ribbon ceremonies. It’s not surprising to see Bridal Parties that go well beyond 20 in number! As an experienced San Francisco Indian Wedding Photographer, it is so important to make sure we cover all of this in great detail. In our humble opinion, it takes a professional to do this effectively. We have been covering San Francisco Bay Area Indian weddings for close to 20 years. Let us cover yours!

Besides this Indian wedding photography focus, we also photograph many San Francisco City Hall Weddings. Check out our other pages to see our City Hall Specialty. To see other Examples of San Francisco Wedding Photography click the link.

San Franciscos character and history translate into myriad photo opportunities. We place importance on capturing not only the beauty of your wedding venue but all of surroundings as well.

Some of our favorite wedding venues inside of the San Francisco city center include the Fairmont San Francisco, Asian Art Museum, Westin San Francisco, Julia Morgan Ballroom, and San Francisco City Hall. Each of these locations encompass a distinct story and contribute to the rich history of San Francisco. Many feature a gorgeous San Francisco Skyline, with views of landmarks like Coit Tower, the Transamerica Building and the Golden Gate Bridge.

Outside of San Francisco but within one or two hours of driving distance, you can escape the city vibes and enter a completely different scene. If you head down the coast a bit, you can find the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay, with one of the best coastlines in all of California. Or you can head over to Sonoma County for venues like Trentadue Winery, which provides a more quiet and peaceful location for your big day. Capturing Portraits Of The Bride And Groom

Bay Area Indian Wedding Photographer and Videographer » Deepikas ...

The best time to capture Indian couples dressed in their colorful wedding attire is during daytime when there is plenty of natural light. I also love sunset and nighttime photos because I can get even more creative with camera and lighting. These photos are fun to make because the suits, the dresses, jewelry and other details are so vivid and full of filigree details. Portraits are usually a mix of traditional photography, candid pictures and creative imagery. They are not just about posing, but also about capturing the romance, the mood, the scene and the vibrant ornaments that make Indian weddings so unique.

Top 5 Traditional Indian Wedding Events

1. Ganesh Pooja – Indian Weddings usually start with this ritual, but we are not asked to photograph it too often. It’s a small ceremony usually performed in the home. Only the engaged couple, wedding party and close family attend. On the rare occasions we are asked to photograph the Ganesh Pooja, we do it in a very unobtrusive way. No flash photography and no posing of the subjects, mostly just candid shots with an emphasis on simply documenting this important event. A few shots of the couple follow with family portraits and wedding party shots. This photography often happens in the backyard of the home. I believe we only been asked to cover this type of event a couple of times in the San Francisco area.

4. Baraat – This is probably the most important part of the Indian matrimonial ceremony. The groom arrives either on a horse or on foot surrounded by family and friends celebrating his impending marriage. Drums sound, people dance and sing as the groom enters like a King. This procession depicts that the groom is coming in to win his bride and be with her for the rest of their lives. We treat this like a sporting event in terms of photographic coverage. We want to capture all of the action so we bring our fastest lenses and cameras. Any lighting we bring, needs to be portable. We always cover this with both wedding photographers to make sure we don’t miss a thing! My background in Sports photography at the University of San Francisco helps with this type of coverage!

What Goes Into The Pre

As an Indian Wedding Photographer Bay Area, our team understands the grandeur and excitement that comes with an Indian wedding. But, we also understand the enormous amount of planning that it takes to organize such an event. We also know that not everyone quite understands all the amazing and meaningful moments that go into an Indian wedding. We would like to share the basics of an Indian wedding to help anyone who may be planning- or plans to attend- an Indian wedding.

Obviously, Indian weddings are full of rich and meaningful traditions. In order to cover them all, we will be breaking down basics of Indian weddings into two separate posts. Here, we will showcase the Pre-Wedding/Ceremony traditions followed by the ceremony itself in a future post. So keep an eye out for the additional information!

Pre-Wedding Events

The pre-wedding rituals are a very important part of the entire Indian wedding event. They are believed to hold an enormous amount of importance and are used to set the tone and promise of the impending wedding. Normally, these events last for about a week and do an amazing job of drumming up the excitement and joy for the bride and groom as well as their friends and family.

Pithi: A pithi is a good luck ceremony where friends and family apply a pithi to bride and grooms skin. Pithi is a yellow paste made of turmeric, rose water and chickpea flour and is believed to brighten the skin tone.
