Another option is a day-of wedding coordinator, who will make sure everything goes smoothly on your wedding day.

Essential Tips For Planning A Last Minute Wedding

  • First: Dont panic. Instead, get help to start planning. One way to cut down on the burden of planning a wedding on a deadline is to use digital tools such as WeddingHappy that act as your personal wedding planner and unofficial de-stressor. Tools like this can be shared with wedding parties and partners, and can plan the organization so you can get things done. With a helpful platform you can focus on what matters throughout your shorter timespan and stay productive.
  • Priority is key: sit down with your partner and determine the things that you both care the most about. This will give you an idea on what projects to start on first, and ensure that the folk band you and your partner love makes the cut.
  • Think carefully about your guest list. Including only the people you need cuts down on costs and scale. The more guests you invite, the bigger the venue needed and larger venues can be more difficult to book on short notice. Also, there might be more last-minute changes to your plans as some guests may not be able to take time off work or fly in if they live far away.

Guests should be expected to pay for their transport to the destination wedding, whether that is a plane ticket, train ticket, a tank of gas, etc. Also, guests usually cover their own hotel room stay, although the bride and groom may be able to arrange a discounted price when booking the wedding package at the hotel.

No matter what your shared vision is for this extra special occasion, there may be some stress and nerves involved. That said, giving yourselves enough time to get all of the details nailed down is one of the best ways to stay on track. So, how long does it take to plan a wedding? Well, according to the founder of Jacin Fitzgerald Events, Jacin Fitzgerald, deciding on the size of the event is the first key step.

A modern wedding takes 528 hours, or 22 full days, to plan, according to a new study.

Research into the behaviours and habits of 2,000 Americans who got married in the past year found that the average engaged American will be in wedding planning mode for 11 months or 44 weeks and rack up a staggering 528 hours of planning.

The study also found that a quarter of those surveyed found choosing the perfect wedding venue the most challenging part of organising a wedding.

While the majority of couples admitted to being excited during the wedding planning process, the average couple surveyed said they had four arguments in the lead up to their big day.

The most common reasons for a disagreement between couples include finding a wedding venue , catering , and agreeing on a guest list .

When Should I Choose A Location

You might know the country or the part of the state you want to get married in, but nailing down a specific location should be the first thing you do after hiring a wedding planner. Your planner will know which locales will work for your wedding-day dreams. Maybe you always envisioned getting married in that tiny town you love along the Italian countryside, but come to find out its noise restrictions wont work with the late-night party you have planned, or maybe the two-hour bus-ride up into the secluded hillside is just too much for your guests to endure. Oftentimes, logistics will help determine the exact location of your wedding, soeven if youre 1-2 years out from saying I dochoose your wedding location right away after hiring your planner.

    Communicate With Your Guests

This is perhaps the most important step when you’re planning a wedding in 3 months. Make sure your guests are in the loop about your plans. Dont worry about sending a save-the-date through snail mailwith such a short timeframe, you’ll want to skip straight to the wedding invitations . Create a wedding website, and send the link to your wedding guests. Theyll likely want to book travel and accommodations ASAP, so make sure you give them the heads-up on your plans.

S To Plan A Destination Wedding

  • Consult with a destination wedding planning company or venues abroad to find your dream location for your nuptials. Locking down a venue and destination will give you an engagement timeline to get everything else ready. Make sure to consider factors such as how many people you expect to invite, how you expect guests to travel, and what the weather might be like in order to avoid any hiccups down the road.
  • Your destination wedding may require a scouting trip in order to make sure your chosen vendors and venue have everything you want. A rooftop setting may look interesting in pictures but feels like magic once youre there. Vice versa, a small outdoor venue may look beautiful on the website, but only when you visit do you realize its right next to a noisy highway.
  • Once you have the location and date nailed down, be sure to give your invited guests as much notice as possible. Sending those tropical themed wedding invitations at least six months in advance will give your loved ones enough time to request work off and buy their tickets to Fiji for your special day.
  • After the invites go out, your wedding will follow a more normal pattern and you can use this destination wedding checklist to determine exactly what else needs to get done before you arrive at the airport.
  • Months From The Wedding

With a year to go, it might seem too soon to plan but theres a lot you need to do early on.

Set Your budget this will help all of your decision making. Having a budget planner in place with help you make choices and find places where you can shrink or expand your expectations.

Create the Guest List Too soon? No, not at all. How many will you be catering for? What size venue do you need? How much budget will you need? The head count is essential to this so go early and make some decisions now. You may also need to negotiate gently with family members and let them know where youre drawing the line. Your Mother-in-Laws nephews neighbours dog might not make the final cut.

Hire your wedding planner? Or maybe just call up that friend whos brilliant at planning. A wedding planner will be way ahead of your thinking on all this and could well be the best investment you make if youre after a wedding that is both memorable and goes to plan. Its not always seen as essential but if youre planning on hiring one, the time is now as it will save you a lot of time and probably a few headaches.

Agree on a wedding theme Again, this is best done early on with your budget and guest list. The wedding theme will help you decide so many things that are coming up in your big To Do list.

Myth #: We Need Time To Save Up Enough Money For The Wedding Of Our Dreams

This next section may come off as harsh to some, but it’s only meant to be tough love. It’s also a dose of reality that I somewhat wish I had considered when planning my own special day.

Money and budgeting issues are front and center during any wedding planning process. Whether you’re lucky enough to have your parents or another family member offer to help you pay for the wedding, or if you and your fiancé are taking on the financial burden yourselves, there are considerations that many couples don’t fully explore before diving into planning.

It’s all about the money. It always is, just like everything else in life. Everything has a price tag, and even though you may think the price of renting that castle in Scotland is totes unreasonable, it’s not going to change. Even weddings with the most extravagant budgets have to compromise, adjust, and sacrifice parts of their original “vision.”

I’d like to digress for just a moment. Running the risk, yet again, of sounding like a horrible person who does not love weddings and all things romantic and wonderful, I’m going to give brides a piece of advice that I wish someone had given me… if only just to consider.

Though it is undoubtedly special, your wedding day really is just that: One, single day.

It is a celebration of your life and your future together, but it doesn’t determine how happy or successful your life will be from that point moving forward.

Getting back to our original conflict…
