Colorado Springs Wedding Venue Booking Into 2025 Guest Counts Much Higher Post

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The wedding industry is bouncing back after the pandemic, and one southern Colorado wedding venue is seeing record numbers.

11 News spoke with Garden of the Gods Resort and Club, who is already booking weddings into 2024 and 2025.

Business has definitely recovered since and has doubled. 2023 is actually going to be most likely more busy than this year as well, said Christi Gazaway, senior weddings catering sales manager.

According to The Wedding Report, an estimated 2.5 million weddings are happening in 2022, with an average spend of more than $24,000. Thats up from nearly 2 million weddings in 2021, with an average spend of $22,500.

Most of all of our weddings were already contracted last year, so from a price-point perspective, a lot of our families, they are still in pricing before. But, from a cost perspective for us and locating items, that definitely has increased. Just the cost of goods, but that right now is not something we are passing on to our families, said Gazaway.

Wedding experts warn brides and grooms may have to book weddings on alternative days, like Mondays or Tuesdays, or even alternative times like sunrise or brunch, due to the high demand.

I think all tradition has gone out the window and thats been one of the most fun things, is being able to work with these couples and families to really create a day that really tells their story, tells their love story. I think with this backdrop we do tell the story, said Gazaway.

Emily and Andrew were rewarded for their patience. They had planned their wedding in 2020 but with COVID surges, they opted to postpone until 2021. And it did not disappoint. Some of the most beautiful weather and seasonal color change showed up for their fall Garden of the Gods Club Wedding. Combined with the resorts reflection pool and amazing view, it was perfect. There was even a few unplanned Air Force fly overs during the ceremony!

And can I just make a request to all my future clients? Please have this hat at every wedding because it truly got those wall flowers on the dance floor. It was a party in itself. And Im a pretty big Schitts Creek fan myself. I would love to see the Jazzagals on the dance floor all night .

Since their engagement photos took place in a national park, it was only natural that the three of us woke up before the sun the next morning for some epic wedding portraits at one of my favorite spots in Colorado Springs. It never gets old to see the morning sun light up Pikes Peak and to capture couples exploring in the beautiful red rock formations! Definitely worth the wakeup call and, again, big props to the team at The Day Colorado for waking up right along with us to touch up her hair and makeup!

Congratulations, you two on your marriage, and I am so happy that the stars aligned for us to work together again!

While its never fun to have to change your wedding day, were secretly happy that Maggie and Dan had to upend their plans. If the Canadian border had stayed open, we wouldnt have gotten to meet these two amazing souls or been able to photograph their Garden of the Gods Resort wedding.

After 14 seasons, I think one of my favorite things about being a wedding photographer is having a front seat to witness the range of emotions throughout the day. As one of the only vendors who spend the entire wedding day in close proximity to the couple, we get the chance to see how the quiet moments contrast with the boisterous festivities. And Maggie and Dans wedding was no different.

Their Garden of the Gods Resort wedding was brimming with happy tears as much as it was replete with laughter. Capturing the day by their sides, it was impossible not to experience every feeling along with the newlyweds. The excitement of the morning preparations built to a crescendo of eager nerves, which broke open and settled down into a feeling of peace and ease after the first look. Their ceremony was a pastoral hymn, accompanied by the most spectacular play between the sun and the clouds. And their day wrapped up with the kind of party that weve all been waiting patiently for throughout the past year. Belt-limbo and all.

Want The Scenery Of Garden Of The Gods But Not The Crowds

Some of my couples love the beautiful scenery of Garden of Gods with the red rock formations and Pikes Peak in the background, but they are not thrilled about the large crowds of people you find on most days at the park. Understandably, for many couples that elope, privacy is important to them on their day!

If this sounds like you, I recommend considering Garden of the Gods Resort. While this resort is paid venue, for some couples, this extra expense is worth it!

    Permits And Other Requirements

Bryn and Carter’s Garden of the Gods Club and Resort Wedding in Colorado Springs, Colorado

One of the best things about having an intimate wedding or elopement at Garden of the Gods is that there is no permit required! There are some rules you should know, however, if you choose to elope here.

    • All ceremony sites are on a first come, first served basis.
    • Wedding ceremonies must be brief and you cannot bring in large props, tables, or decorations. You may only bring in chairs for the elderly or disabled.
    • You also cannot throw confetti or rice, or release balloons or birds/butterflies.
    • Its important to follow all Leave No Trace principles, including staying on established trails.
    • No alcoholic beverages are allowed in the park, even at the picnic sites.
    • Park hours are from 5:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M.

What You Need To Know For Garden Of The Gods Elopements And Weddings

Of course, every location has its pros and cons. While Garden of the Gods is an awesome place to have your elopement or intimate wedding, there are some things you need to know!

First, its worth noting that there is no reservation system for the designated ceremony sites. Like many public lands, use by the public is the top priority.

Because of this, there is no exclusive use of any area even for weddings and there is no guarantee of privacy.

Parking is also limited throughout the park, so be aware of this.

In my experience, most people are respectful of couples having their wedding, but if privacy and seclusion are important for you, Garden of the Gods may not be your best bet.

Additionally, because it is such a popular spot to visit, youll want to plan your elopement at the least busy times of day !

    WHY WE LOVE IT

Simply put, this is one of my favorite venues in Colorado because the views speak for themselves. This feels like a mountain venue without the hassle of coordinating a mountain wedding. Doing a first look in the park is something I recommend to all my couples and I know exactly where to go to capture the gorgeous views its known for.
Pro Tip: First look is the perfect time to visit the Garden of the Gods park because there won’t be time after the ceremony to drive over there.

If I Live Elsewhere Should I Get My Marriage License In Colorado

If you are getting married in Colorado, you should obtain your marriage license in Colorado rather than your home state if you live elsewhere. This is because very few states allow you to apply for a marriage license, have your ceremony in another state, and then return home to file the license.

The reverse is also true. If you live in Colorado, but want to have your ceremony in another state, you should apply for your marriage license in the state where youre having your ceremony. Colorado requires you to sign your marriage license within the state.
