Opt For A First Look Galway Downs By Wedgewood Weddings

If having a lot of photos is important to you, a first look is a game changer. We had a first look and honestly, things STILL felt rushed at some points, and that was with a 35 person wedding!

A first look allows one to take couple portraits, family portraits, and bridal party portraits BEFORE the ceremony. Since there is much more time before the ceremony, this leaves ample time for photos.

Whereas when there is no first look, all these photos usually need to be taken during the cocktail hour, meaning there is significantly less time for photos.

Invest In Florals Galway Downs By Wedgewood Weddings

Ive seen it time and time again, florals truly have the ability to elevate any space and transform it to the extraordinary. Floral centerpieces for the reception site are included in Galway Down premium package, but they are definitely more on the simpler side.

Id definitely talk to the florist you get partnered with by Galway Downs about adding some extra flowers to create a beautiful ceremony arch or backdrop for the fireplace mantel behind the suite-heart table.

Overall, Id say a lot of decor isnt needed with this venue since it is already so naturally beautiful, but if one does want to add something to make it extra magical, my suggestion would be to invest in some extra floral pieces.

Also, the two florists Galway Downs works with are AMAZING, but Ill dive deeper into detail about that in the vendor section below.

NOTE: These price estimates are for a 2020 wedding at Galway Downs. I imagine, the prices have slightly increased for a 2021+ wedding.

Ceremony Site Fee:

$995 during all months of the year

This includes: An indoor or outdoor ceremony, ceremony coordination, rehearsal, full set-up and breakdown

Venue Price:

Saturday: $8,995

Price Per Person:

125/person for their premier package, which is their most popular package and in my opinion, the best bang for ones buck.

-This includes: 5 hours of event time

However, you can get ready on site and start earlier for photos. I believe the 5 hours applies to whenever the ceremony starts.

They Only Allow One Wedding On Site Per Day

Many of the venues we looked at had around 1 5 weddings on site per day. Yes, their properties were larger, but still, thats a con because it means the couple will be confined to a specific space instead of being at liberty to utilize the entire venue.

With Galway Downs by Wedgewood Weddings, one can use the whole venue!

The Natural Beauty Of Galway Downs By Wedgewood Weddings

Galway Downs by Wedgewood Weddings is honestly one of the prettiest I have ever seen. I love how it has a whimsical vibe, provided by the ceremony site in the meadow. And the carriage house, where the reception is held is absolutely gorgeous. With high ceilings and so much natural light, you really cant go wrong here.

Ok Time For Some Real Talk

Ok, so a full on wedding coordinator really isnt needed for this venue as they have staff and in house coordinators who handle the majority of the work and so much is included with the venue, that a lot of the work is already done as far as planning goes.

They have an on site coordinator who is there from getting ready until the reception entrance. These coordinators are amazing and very helpful, HOWEVER, he or she leaves as soon as the reception starts.

They do have a banquet staff person who takes over at this point, but I didnt find them doing the same roles a coordinator.

Personally, on my wedding day, I noticed that everyone was coming up to me to ask me questions, which I really wasnt crazy about. I was trying to enjoy the moment, but it felt like I was often getting asked logistical questions from all sorts of people .

These are things we really dont think of, and honestly, my family is a little bit more neurotic than most, which can be a reason for the slew of 1,000 questions, but as your can imagine, no-one wants to be the go to person on his/her wedding day.

A coordinator would act as your liaison and handle this for you. Everyone will go up to him/her to handle all the logistical aspects of your wedding, so you can enjoy every moment and be present.

Honestly, this is my only regret from my wedding day. Invest in a day-of coordinator, you WILL NOT regret it.

Galway Downs By Wedgewood Weddings Vendors I Worked With

Since Galway Downs includes some vendors in their packages, they have vendor partners, people they work with and will be assigned to work with you on your wedding day. These include the florist, cake baker, DJ, and the officiant . They will usually pair you with whoever is available, but my suggestion is to ask them who their current partner vendors are and look through their websites and instagrams.

From there, see who you feel you are most drawn to and ask Galway Downs if those specific vendors are available on your date. If they are, they should be able to pair you with them.

Honestly, from what I have gathered, all of their vendors are great, but I personally had the following for my wedding:

• Florals: Soiree Floral Design
• DJ: Austin Murray Entertainment
• Officiant: Kimiko

Ok, so all of the vendors were great.

Soiree Floral Design did a SPECTACULAR job. I wanted bright, joyful, whimsical flowers that looked like paintings and they did that.

Austin is so easy going, professional, and great to work with. He is amazing at his job and played the music we requested.

And Kimiko is one of the best officiants I have ever seen. She is bubbly, personable, and just has this really bright & beautiful energy.

These vendors often work at Galway Downs and I HIGHLY recommend them.

So Much Is Included With The Venue

Galway Downs includes so much for the price: ceremony space, venue space, cocktail hour space, tables, chairs, flower centerpieces for the tables at the reception, food, open bar, utensils, linens, the wedding cake, a DJ for both the ceremony & reception, and invitations.

Honestly, its all very seamless and saves so much energy and stress.

Before choosing Galway Downs as our venue, we were planning on going with a space that was equally gorgeous, but didnt include anything.

Everything had to be brought in, from the tables, chairs, linens, plates, etc.

I very quickly realized that this was A LOT of work and required much more time planning, researching, etc

My Personal Favorite Areas For Galway Downs Photography

Be sure to have photos taken of you both in the meadow as there always tends to be such gorgeous light there, near the pampas grass, by the large cactus, and lastly by the colorful bougainvillea.

There are also gorgeous bridges and small lakes throughout the property that would make for artistic photos, especially with the couple being a small part of a wider landscape shot.

Opt For The Buffet Instead Of The Plated

Ok, so I do think the plated option is slightly more elegant, but the buffet option is WAY BETTER in terms of food selection. It was suggested by one of the staff members that I go with this option since it provides better food options, and I am so glad we ended up doing this!

It provides 3 entrees, whereas the plated only provides 2, and It also provides 6 7 side dishes/salads, whereas the plated option provides 2. So it offers way more variety for guests.

All my guests kept complimenting the food. I think all of the variety made it something different than the standard chicken/fish served at every wedding.

Also, guests can go for seconds if they are still hungry, which is alway a nice perk.

I will say, their buffet is done in a super elegant manner, the whole experience was great!
