Even though the theme of their wedding was dark and moody, the day was filled with love and silliness and joy and laughter. They said to me before their wedding that they love the dark and moody look without actually having to be dark and moody. I think that captured them perfectly. Their gothic theme fit them so well but at the same time, they are all smiles and so much fun. Their last name is Funck so as a wedding hashtag, they chose #funckytown19. I thought that was so clever! Oh, and in one of their newlywed portraits, the flower girl snuck into our photo without any of us noticing. See if you can find her!

This was my first wedding at this ceremony, although I have done many weddings at other Wedgewood venues. This one is super close to me so that was awesome! Yay for short commutes, right? I love that no matter where in Colorado you go, you can get gorgeous photos. Some of the most amazing photos are taken in the most unassuming location too. The nighttime portraits I did with these two with the night sky in the background were actually taken in a parking lot! Over the years, I have learned to find the hidden gems at any location and make amazing portraits no matter what!

Colorado Springs is where family and friends gathered to watch these two start their lives as a married couple. I met up with Alexis and her ladies at the hotel where they were getting ready. It was such a fun atmosphere, as they did each others hair and helped with makeup. Before long, we were headed off to the venue, Wedgewood Black Forest. Alexiss mom and sister helped her into her dress, and the first look with the bridesmaids was so fun!

Meanwhile, across the hall, Austin and his guys were hanging out and getting ready. Evan, Austins best man, helped him get his jacket on and they were ready for portraits!

Outside, we had a great time enjoying the nice weather and taking some pictures. It was such a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere! The guys went first, and even though I made them throw Austin in the air, everyone got through it safely! The ladies had an equally fun time, though I didnt make them throw Alexis in the air!

Most of my couples lately have been choosing first looks, but I always love the occasional wedding where the groom sees the bride for the first time as shes walking down the aisle. It was such a special and beautiful moment!

There is so much that I like about Black Forest by Wedgewood Weddings. Its located in North Colorado Springs, Colorado in the Black Forest part of town where you feel like youre in a mountain pine forest despite being located east of I-25. The forested surroundings are probably my favorite thing about Wedgewood Black Forest wedding venue. Its one of the best Colorado forest weddings you can have especially in the Colorado Springs area. I love that they make it easy to create beautiful wedding photos for my clients year round since the landscape looks very similar no matter what time of year it is. But, the interior of this massive building is also very impressive. It has the feel of a modern chateaux with large spaces everywhere. Theres no being cramped into a closet sized getting ready space like many other venues have. Here, youll be treated to a spacious suite with a huge mirror and a bathroom with plenty of stalls for your family and wedding party members to use as you prep for your wedding. The hallways are nice and wide and theres an overall feeling of grandness when you step inside this North Colorado Springs forest wedding venue.
